Random questions about API

Oh now i don't want to go Helo, it was just a question as all. I just always wondered about it when I seen Helo pilots walking around the flight deck.

I really, really want to post a face-palm picture. I really do. :)

Throttle back, shipmate. You'll figure everything out once you get there. In the meantime, anyone who tells you that there are no stupid questions... well, that person is a liar.

Will there be NFO's for BAMS?

Yeah but the VUP squadrons are JO shore tours right now. As of now the plan is for DH screen, if you get OP, then you could get VP or VUP (whether or not you can put in a preference, who knows). That's the plan now, but of course subject to change.

If I am moving myself to Pensacola alone for IFS and API, but having my wife and kid join me in Whiting for Primary (assuming that's where I will go for Primary) will I have to pay out of pocket to get them there?

wait so all SNFO's go through the strike syllabus now? And what is 4? Is that a re-incarnation of the old VT-4 of A4's gun pattern days?
No, it's Advanced for MPR/E-2s now. They finished developing the simulators, and now we can all wing here again.
There's still a few students waiting for orders who will go through the old RAG syllabus and wing there, though.

All NFO's never winged out of P'cola, at least in last 30 years or so, MPA/R guys went to Nav school at Mather then Randolph and winged out of there while E-2 guys winged at the RAG.

My bad, someone told me they used to. Either way, there are only a few students left to go through the old RAG syllabi. The UMFO program is up and running now.

The winging of E-2 NFOs down in Pcola has been in the works with the new UMFO syllabus. My understanding is VT-4 has been waiting on delivery of the multi-crew simulator to do so. I don't think they've started winging down there yet. From what I've heard is going to be a pretty docile amount of training compared to winging at the RAG.

nevermind, I remember VT-4 did exist when I was in API, as a primary squadron. So I take it they stood back up as an advanced command for non-VFA/VAQ?

From my understanding, the parent service will pay to move them IF they are listed as your dependents on your PCS orders. That is something you will have to be sure is added if they aren't on there when you receive them.

Yes, a simulator only "Advanced" command for non VFA/VAQ types. All NFO's will wing in Pensacola now, prior to going to their respective FRS.

so do you get the PCS orders when you start Primary and just eat the cost until then?

I received PCS orders for NAS Pensacola that include follow on assignment to Whiting so you should receive something similar. They should pay for your move down and then when your family comes they should pay for that separately (up to your allotted entitlement). I'll see if I can verify this on Mon when I'm back in the office because I work with some folks that will know the answers--don't quote me on it quite yet.

thanks a lot. I'm checking in the first week of Feb and measuring out the apartment to see what we can move and the plan was for my wife to move up at the beginning of March. I plan on calling someone Tuesday but just looking for some knowledge going into the conversation.
