Don't know about Air Force, But is definitely a Marine thing!
Something that indicates combat readiness in some minds.
Why did the Navy have to get more like the Air Farce? Why couldn't the USAF see a good thing in old school NAVAIR and become more like that? With the exception of more emphasis on expeditionary air warfare (demanded by the GWOT versus inspired thought), it has all been one way. Navy more USAF and USAF still retarded.
Tailhook.............nuf said.To start with, flight suits and flight jackets. But then there is the no defect culture, nanny leadership, flight training grading, unit level operational risk crap on liberty, and erosion of the naval service tradition of command by negation. That is just off the top of my head. I can guarantee you, that anyone around in my day finds the Navy more like the USAF today than in our day, and the USAF not much different than it was 30-40 years ago.

I haven't seen Naval Aviation change that much during my time in the service.
Naval Aviation is still getting a tough job done every day and will continue to do so long after everyone on this website are retired and long gone.
Really?
...Agree with the first part; however, the second part ignores real, undeniable trends.
I actually worked with the USAF my whole career and can say with certainty that we aren't anywhere close to their level of 'fun'.
Yeah, ultimately, just looking to get our squadron to get with colored shirts, the right way. There is no NAVADMIN listed in the reference library that addresses the issue and everyone does reference that CNAF email, but no one can seem to find it.
