03 DEC 18 IWC BOARD

This fiscal year, and 2 more after this, possibly 3 fiscal years are expected to be THE BEST TIME to join the Navy. Both Officer and Enlisted, hence the previous board boasted such great selection rate. So I'm just here to ride the wave :) give my unquestionable loyalty to my combat team!

Where is this info coming from you might ask? I get to hear conference calls of some important folks in the Navy recruiting command. So good luck to you hopeful brothers and sisters / active duty or civilian who you might be.
I wonder if this stems from decreases in retention.

selection rate is just how many picked up out of how many applied, if you look at the numbers that have been posted the selection rate is higher due to less applying, there will always be some variation in how many can be picked since OCS is just a surge volume for the other commissioning sources.

I’m hoping for the best but I’m also trying to be realistic. My family doesn’t understand why I’m so worried and why I haven’t heard back yet - they keep on telling me to nag my recruiter but I tell them that I know for sure he doesn’t know either (also I feel bad for the poor dude, he’s nice and doesn’t deserve me bugging him). You all enjoy yourselves in this holiday while you can!

I'm feeling antsy too. It would be good to what to expect of life going into the New Year, especially as you meet up with family and friends who are asking you what your plans are. I'm finally bringing a gf to the family party, so now all the questions will be about my career.

My rationale is that they don't want to ruin anyone's holiday by releasing the results this month, as the cumulative net result would be negative (more rejections than acceptances = net sadness; net sadness x holiday season coefficient = >net sadness ), and that just goes totally counter to Navy doctrine.

I mean that's probably not the case though. I'm putting the over/under as January 7th. Best of luck to all of you!

board members and other admin support most likely want to get this work done right before xmas and turn it in, meaning results might be out tomorrow

Maybe the Army is different. I laughed at the thought of guys working their asses off right before Christmas leave/pass.

Given that they haven’t come out with it yet and it’s past 5 PM on a Friday, I think they didn’t quite work their asses off! Or at least not yet.
