It is a common misunderstanding, in a way if talking about enlisted it can be fixed by recruiting more. Thanks for the correction on the retention issues, I wasn’t aware of that.

They’re THAT bad at MEPS? I go tomorrow. Probably going to need a waiver for one thing, as well.Fellas, do you think I can get a medical waiver in time for Nov 3rd? Made the stupid mistake of saying I sometimes take melatonin at MEPS. Recruiter and I sent out a request to get it waived immediately (God bless that man) and I'm seeing a primary care physician next week to basically confirm what I already know- I don't have insomnia. Fingers crossed this gets run through the chain fairly quickly.
Yep. I've been slapping myself on the forehead since. Luck of the Irish eh? If they don't ask, don't tell. Basically. Be honest if they do ask about something thoughThey’re THAT bad at MEPS? I go tomorrow. Probably going to need a waiver for one thing, as weYep,
The answer is maybe, it really depends what N3M wants, they could just say "waived" or they could say you need a consult, if you need a consult you are at the mercy of when the contracted doctor has an opening.Fellas, do you think I can get a medical waiver in time for Nov 3rd? Damn. Welp, I’m hoping. The letter we sent out basically said that I don’t suffer from sleeping issues and I only take melatonin on occasion, rather than as a solution to an issue. Hopefully that’s good enough. Yup, I don’t blame the doctor. He seemed hopeful I’d get a waiver. I understand why the doctor did what he did as so many people I know have mentioned having a hard time sleeping to their doctor and the first thing they are told to try is melatonin.

So I just drafted a letter to my local congressman in an effort to obtain a letter of recommendation for my application package. I then realized he's been in the news a lot lately with some negative allegations and he's not being regarded in a positive light. My question is...
Would having a LOR from a congressperson carry weight in a good way, regardless of the politics? Seems like they all could be regarded negatively from one side or the other...
Or should I steer clear?
I know a ton of naval aviators but not of very high rank, so I didn't think those mattered much. I do have one Army Colonel willing to write one, a former Navy helo guy I work with, and a former paramedic partner. Just figured I'd gather as much as I can. Thanks for your fast response! My recruiter said 3 LORs from Naval Aviators, 2 LORs from a boss/coach, etc
Congressional appointments is when they only really matter the most but don’t worry about that.
An LOR from a Naval Aviator would carry more weight that a congressman IMO

When going for aviation LOR's are essentially worthless, it would be better to study in case you need to retake the ASTB, that is what really matters. So I just drafted a letter to my local congressman in an effort to obtain a letter of recommendation for my application package. Commissioning ProgramsCan anyone show me where they found the date of this board. I was unaware that the October 30th board got cancelled and wanted to see the FY 24 dates.
