Would you guys say a 51, 6,8,7 would be a solid enough score for applying to SNA? I know it definitely varies board to board.

Doesn't really vary, last board was an anomaly due to a few factors. Going off of averages your 8 should be good.
That 8 PFAR is solid but the 6 is average. I wouldn’t skip a board but I would definitely retake if you non-select.
The AQR isn't really a factor, the PFAR or FOFAR for SNFO's is the important score.

I know it is impossible to tell and I know the last board was an an anomaly, but given your experience do you think that the next board will be around normal, given the 90%+ selection rate on the last board? Say 60-70% rate this time around? I missed the last board only because the processor never push my package when we thought she did, and I am almost certain that i would have been selected given the amount of people that got picked up. I have been at this for two years and finally have seen a positive trend the last two board, and would hate to see the selection rate crash to 20-30% again. My hope is that for the last year or so recruiters have been turning people away from even applying given the low numbers until now, and since so many got picked up last board (and two-ish month doesn't seem like a long time to start a package from scratch), then maybe that leaves a low number of applicants with an average amount of billets available....at least for this board.

In what I saw in the past it could go either way depending on what recruiters are telling people, some could be saying apply now because of last board, others could be saying wait because the are afraid results will drop. It will take a few stable boards and communication to get this back to normal.

This board was cancelled and they reopened based on the most up to date board schedule… so that’s speaks for itself.

It’s all numbers, NRC has numbers they base it off of. The numbers are floating around on the JULY/AUG board. Add the new selects from the board that just happened to those numbers and that should give a “general” number of how many they are looking to take.

Also I believe there is one more board after this one for the FY, so you have to factor that in as well

It should be noted the thread title is misleading as the board is 4 Dec 2023

The next board after this is April 2024 which is listed for FY 25 selects and realistically by the time the results are out it would be difficult to get to OCS to be a FY 24 accession, possible but not probable.

You are right is all based on numbers but the spots available for each board are averaged across all boards and when there is an adjustment it is recalculated across all remaining boards, and that is a rolling average. This of course means the variable in all this is how many apply and are sent to that board.

They also select about 140-150% of what they need to ship to OCS so they are always ahead of what they need, by how much is what can vary depending on goal fluctuations.

Well I don't think they "canceled" this board and reopened it, so much as they probably just decided to reorient the board schedule. They will have three boards this FY instead of the the usual four. Which i would hope means more billets per board, and at least for this board coming up..less applicants. But only time will tell. Looking at the spreadsheet there are far less people who are putting their names on it this time around.

It all depends when they have openings, see my response to how they determine OCS dates.

The August board is the definition of an anomaly, if history repeats itself every OR is telling their candidates to submit now and they will be finding anyone interested in applying to submit as well.
can you send me the august board excel sheet, curious to see it. I haven't been able to find it.

What really matters is the overall spots the board has to give, as an example 200 over 4 is better than 100 over 3, then you have to factor in the number of applicants.

My Recruiter has decided to not be very responsive today. I'm wondering as an SNFO candidate, when would I likely ship out to OCS if I am selected by this board?

Last board people got 2 weeks from being notified of selection. Which is way sooner than the standard 3-5 months out

If you have a date you would like to leave after there’s a spot on your application to do that.

I have already submitted, not a huge issue I just want to have a general range I can tell my employer, they know I am doing this but I haven't told them a date. I have a very good relationship with my job right now so if I somehow break my leg or something in OCS I would like to leave on a good note where I could get hired back.

If the Board isn't convening until December now, when should we be expected to hear back. Didn't the last board hear back like 3 weeks after they convened?
