After studying for 1.5 months, my first attempt ended up with a 57 6/7/6 which was a little surprising because I thought I did a lot better. I'm in my 3rd year of college and I have a 3.9 GPA in biological sciences. I am looking to get accepted into BDCP pilot slot and my recruiter says that these scores should give me a good chance to be selected. If I want to try to get into the program by the next board, I would have to stick with these scores and I was wondering if I had a good chance or if I should try to retake it. I am also curious if anyone would be willing to share their stats as whether or not they got into the BDCP.
Other than that I am greatly thankful for this thread, it had everything that could've been on the test.
BDCP is a little harder to gauge chances on than normal boards for SNA's. I've seen people with similar scores to you get picked up and some denied. I got in with a 54 7/9/8 3.50; I attached an excel sheet you can use to compare your stats to other applicants. If you scroll all the way to the right, you can see if they were a BDCP applicant or not. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...vgy1N6-V26X_gGOY8z9uxRA8i0/edit#gid=302283925

Also trying to get into BDCP for the May board. I would shoot for above a 7/7/7 just to be safe, but if not then those scores aren't bad. According to the Google sheet board list that we have, the average scores of all those that are applying in May are currently 6.45/7.48/6.91. If you have time to retake it, I would and see if you can score higher. If not, then you probably can survive on those scores, apply, and see what happens since your scores are just about what the average is. Being above average is always great. Some people here below 7/7/7 were accepted for BDCP, but some not. This board may be more competitive altogether however since I believe (someone can fact check me) the March board had some issues which means a ton of people that missed March are going to put in for the May board. You're also doing yourself favors with your GPA.

It's funny. I looked at boards last year too and looked like someone got SNA with 4/6/6. I feel like it varies board-to-board. You never know.

Yeah, that's the thing. It's kind of hard to gauge what scores they're looking for. Sometimes you don't need to score too high; sometimes you do. It really depends on the number of applicants and the needs of the Navy.

I’m an NROTC student commissioning in December (so I’ll submit my package in the fall). Took the ASTB last fall and got a 7/7/7 (first attempt) and wondering if it’s worth it to study and take it again. On the one hand if I don’t get an SNA spot I’d be pissed at myself for not trying to get a better score. But at the same time this may be a good enough score to where the risk of taking it again and ending up with a lower score isn’t worth it. Any opinions would be appreciated thanks.

I don't know much about NROTC but your score qualifies you for immediate selection. As long as you have 3.0 GPA or higher

I recently took my first ASTB test

OAR: 52
AQR: 5
PFAR: 5
FOFAR: 5

I got the ASTB prep app on my phone and primarily used that as my study tool.
The math portion went by very quickly and felt good a few different concepts about dice and cards. Some questions about the odds of picking certain colored marbles out of a jar in order. A question about the odds of a guy guessing the last two pin numbers of his credit card pin.

The English section was nothing like the ASTB prep app and was extremely hard to focus because of the distractions from different people in the recruiter office. Not really sure how I could've prepared better for this especially since I've never has an English mind.

The Mechanical was a lot easier than I anticipated with few equation problems. The equation required problem consisted of a pully system asking about the consistent force needed to move an object, but was unlike any pulley I have ever seen.

Messed up on a few of the UAV questions because of nerves. A slow right answer is better than bombing the wrong parking lot!

The stick and throttle portion was a lot longer than I anticipated. There was a section that included responding to emergency procedures by turning nobs on the throttle.

I defiantly needed more practice in different areas than I focused on.
Any suggestions to improve the ASTB portion of my test score?

Ex:
What to study for the Aviation knowledge portion especially!

You need to talk to your advisor, what is true for OCS is not true for NROTC and vice versa.

You should be fine then. I qualified for isel with same scores as you but just a slightly higher gpa and got a pilot slot. Probably best to not risk the 7/7/7
NROTC cannot be compared to OCS, rules are different. There is no ISEL for NROTC.
