The most beneficial thing working for me heading into Monday is that I'm currently filling an Intelligence Officer (O-3) billet at the Pentagon. I'm the first enlisted Sailor in history to provide the CNO and VCNO the weekly intelligence update, have also briefed several DCNOs, DDNI, and MCPON. I have authored a lot of work that is seen at the highest executive levels of our Navy have a very diverse history in my short time in the Navy (Intel/Operations center in Hawaii, time aboard a Carrier, IA deployment to Afghanistan, and currently stationed at The Pentagon).
Obviously what I have working against me is the very humble OAR score and a degree that likely isn't quite as prestigious as many of the others competing. The fact that zero fleet Sailors were taken last board and the trending average of high 50's OAR scores are causing me to temper my expectations. Though my strong recommendations, diverse history in the field, and demonstrated performance are giving me cautious optimism.
If any of the recruiters can give me any insight to how things may shape out for me, it would be much appreciated.
I am truly impressed at the diversity and impressive backgrounds of those applying. It is cutting hairs when selection rates are this tough, I truly wish everyone the best of luck!!
