Recruiter won’t be in till Tuesday. All my ass can do now is pray. HahaPROREC N
I guess those that didn't hear already were probably denied as well. It's been a good run, and everyone on this site has been incredibly helpful. When you're up at OCS and going through the worst of it, think about the ones that weren't selected if you ever consider quitting. Give one for Chesty and give one for us. Good luck everyone!
Ouch man.What I learned:
-Don't post unnecessarily on AW.
Posting this timeline for future applicants who feel the need to over-analyze (like I did).
College graduation: 20180427 (physics and chemistry, GPA=3.80)
Initial OR contact: 20180525
ASTB: 20180611 (64 8/8/8)
APSR completion with 3 LORs: 20180628 (retired USMC 0-9, University VP, research project advisor)
Board deadline: 20180706 (OR obtained an Exception To Policy because of medical holdups, allowing me to submit app after the deadline)
MEPS: 20180710 (after several back and forth document requests/submissions)
Waivers: surgery to repair labrum in shoulder (waiver=difficult to obtain), smoked MJ 10 times (questioned at MEPS)
Board: 20180815
Prorec-Y: 20180823 (SNA)
OCS: October 2018 (best estimate)
What I learned:
-My OR busted his a$$ getting my app in.
-There is no quick route to commission.
-Don't post unnecessarily on AW.
Bottom line: I tried to get to OCS ASAP, but it still took 4-5 months. Plan ahead, apply early, and be in the 42%.
Ouch man.
I thought hard about NUPOC (and oceanography), but I'm a simple dude, I just wanna fly something. You didn’t want to go NUPOC with a 3.8 and a physics degree?
No shade at you peppergunner. I was saying in general.Ouch man.
I'm a Gator myself. Graduated in December 2015. I'd be about itLooks like we got some Florida presence coming in hot. If we get OCS after 10/27, rendezvous in Jax for Florida-Georgia pre-OCS shenanigans. Take back the oar and beat Georgia! Ok everyone (posters and lurkers alike)...go back to Bravo study, C25K, and StewSmith. Everyone is getting peppergunner a round for his good karma when we get to P'cola.
What was your GPA if you don't mind me asking? Why not apply for a different Officer slot?PROREC-N for me. ASTB 58 6 7 6. I believe it was my GPA that did me in, as I had 3 strong LORs and a motivation letter that I poured my heart and soul into. A bit disappointed in myself and truly frustrated after such a long process, but my OR is pushing me towards enlisted.
On a lighter note, congrats to everyone who's been selected! You guys put in the work and you earned your crack at a commission. Make it count and kick some ass at OCS!
