15 SEP2025 SNA/SNFO BOARD

Similar story here. Somehow my uncorrected and corrected vision in one of my eyes were the same (which makes no sense in the first place) so I had to get my own eye test. Got the readings sent in and it only took a week or two for the waiver to get approved.

Also, ANY drug use results in a waiver. I was just shy of ISEL scores, but it wouldn’t have mattered because I also have a waiver from using marijuana 10-15 times
I also had to get my own eye test. The MEPS depth perception machine screwed me. One of the numbers was literally broken and I coulda easily skipped that one and answered all the rest (it was like the 4th one and supposed to be easy). I then went and got one at an eye doctor and answered the entire sheet perfectly.

Yeah I believe, at least from my recruiter, that official Navy policy is <10 times experimental usage of marijuana does not even require a waiver whatsoever--hence the big push from recruiters to send us to I-Sel anyways; just expect to be moved to regular board if you submitted I-Sel this way. But over 10 times, though, is another story... but regardless, I think Navy policy is still quite lenient with that at regular boards? I'm sure I've seen people on here or Reddit say that they got picked up anyway despite drug usage!
A friend of my family told me a story about a guy who tried just about everything and still got in somehow…

I swear, whatever eye machine I used at first at MEPS was just blurry, I couldn't make out anything, and the doctors said there was nothing wrong with it. Did the secondary test thing (not sure what it's called) and got a perfect 20/20.

Probably not too too recent but recent enough. I’d guess maybe 10 years ago or so. I don’t recall him saying anything about how good his kit was.
That's very lax for 10 years ago, I thought they were super strict back then and it just recently became more open policy wise as a whole, amazing that he got in haha must've been a story, can only imagine what they made his call sign to be lmao

There were a few that tried a variety of drugs who were accepted I estimate 10-13 years ago, some that had multiple alcohol related incidents as well. Since then I believe they tightened up what they look go through.

On MEPS: my uncorrected and corrected vision getting the same reading must have been from when I did the regular eye chart. I’d read a line, then she’d switch the chart, I’d read a line, and so on. About halfway through this, the woman on the machine stopped me and said “you know there are numbers, right?” I even asked multiple family and friends after MEPS and none of them had ever had numbers on an eye chart. When I went to do my own eye exam for the waiver, sure enough there were numbers on that chart too.

On drugs: the other recruiter in my office told me he once had an applicant who said he used one drug before, and put in his package. Board gave him a “do not return” and recruiter was confused and asked why. The board members told him to talk to the applicant. Sure enough, dude had tried everything in the book and put it all on his SF-86, but didn’t disclose ANY of that to his recruiter.

On the google sheet: I can make a new sheet for the November board tomorrow. Someone should start a new thread for that board.
