I didn’t spend $3k on getting fancy new eyeballs to sit in the back dammit
I get you totally bro! Because of my family and my age all logic says I should put both SNA and SNFO to maximize my chances. I don't want to miss out entirely and put my family in a tough spot just because I wanted to fly the plane myself so badly haha. But at the same time, I don't want to end up as an NFO when I could have been a pilot and fulfilled a life long dream! I'd be happy with both... but I'd be SIGNIFICANTLY more excited to become a pilot. I'd be blessed to have a career as an NFO, but I'd spend that career wishing every single day that I was the one flying the aircraft. Gotta get those scores high enough to warrant the risk of only putting one option I suppose.

You and me both! LASIK wasn't cheap man and I could've just saved the money and gone for NFO but dang it I want to fly so freaking badly!
Was Lasik just to achieve 20/20 or are there some other improvements too? Like some sort of depth-perception score, astigmatism, etc...?

I got PRK, but it was just to correct vision and minor astigmatism. Don’t quote me on this cause I’m not an optometrist, but I think my eyes had like a -8.00 diopter (super nearsighted, like 20/400) and a -0.25 astigmatism? My visions 20/15 now.

At this point I’d rather risk never flying in the Navy than take a 6+ year career where I’d always wonder what could’ve been.

With a short week due to Veteran’s Day, followed by a short week for Thanksgiving, we need to take action to make sure we get results before December 3rd.

I propose a sacrifice; run a daily 1.5 miles to appease the AW gods until results are released. The only music allowed is the soundtrack to the original Topgun.

I will do 2 miles to help out the average, but Take My Breath Away is gonna be a real downer... I will just put Danger Zone on repeat.
