20 dead at Va Tech

Fox News is saying 19 killed in Engineering building at Va. Tech. 1 killed in a freshmen dorm. Wondered if any Va Tech NROTC folks would have been in there...Terrible news; I'll edit with a link later.

My daughter is anxiously waiting news from her friends at Tech. We know several kids who go there. I can't even imagine the horror those kids and their parents are going through.

I went to school there. I have been trying to get in contact with some of my friends there, but the cell networks are down.

Of the ones that I have heard from, I have heard some pretty horrific stories that I will refrain from sharing.

I was also a member of Blacksburg Voulenteer Rescue Squad when I was there. It is pretty strange seeing on TV all of the ambulances that I have rode around in.

Its a sin and a shame sh*t like this happens... prayers to families and friends of the victims. I know ALOT of VT alums... they are not taking this easy.

Fox is currently reporting that the shooter is among the dead.

Christ... I wasn't there, but at my college there was a shooting in '92. There are people that were there for it, and they're still screwed up about it.

Oh, I also want to add that as an engineering major, I had multiple classes in Norris Hall. There is one large lecture hall with maybe 150 seats. There are an additional 10-15 classrooms with seats for 20-70 in addition to some offices and labs.

My cousin and her husband both work in the engineering building. Both are okay, thank God, but what a horrible tragedy.

VT NROTC indicated around 3:00 PM that all midshipmen were safe and well. I'm unaware of the status of the rest of the Corps.
