Why say anything at all? This should be no different than looking for a new job. That is a very valid point. I had forgot to mention that I had a personal relationship with this person before I had applied for a position. So the nature of that relationship made me think transparency was the best way to go about it. But I totally understand where you are coming from.Why say anything at all? You loose all your leverage and then your employer will take advantage of your situation. Missed promotion....no pay raise... Trust me on this one.
You are also not going to OCS the month after you all get pro rec Ys. you will be waiting about a year based on the last few boards.
The only thing that makes it trickey is the background check letter the DOD sends your employer. You cannot hide that.
What does the background check even consist of? Simple stuff like criminal history, traffic violations, credit history issues, etc ?Don't say anything!!! just give them your two weeks when it comes time for you to leave.
