For those of you working an industry job, have you told your boss you’re submitted to the board? If not and you’re selected how are you going to tell your boss?

I have not said a peep yet, but I work for a very large defense contractor so most of my superiors are retired navy. That being said I think they’ll be very supportive of me leaving if I get selected

I’ve been pretty transparent with my boss about all of this. I told him as I was interviewing , he’s been pretty good to me about it. I’d just be honest and be as professional as possible.

Why say anything at all? This should be no different than looking for a new job. If you worked at Google and then went online and submitted an application for Amazon would you go tell your manager?

That is a very valid point. I had forgot to mention that I had a personal relationship with this person before I had applied for a position. So the nature of that relationship made me think transparency was the best way to go about it. But I totally understand where you are coming from.

The aerospace industry is small and burning bridges, if this does, can have a huge impact in trying to secure a job further down the line so I’ve been told.

Don't say anything!!! just give them your two weeks when it comes time for you to leave.

You loose all your leverage and then your employer will take advantage of your situation. Missed promotion....no pay raise... Trust me on this one.
You are also not going to OCS the month after you all get pro rec Ys. you will be waiting about a year based on the last few boards.

The only thing that makes it trickey is the background check letter the DOD sends your employer. You cannot hide that.

I started this job after I filled out the NASIS stuff so I don’t think they’d be getting anything

What does the background check even consist of? Simple stuff like criminal history, traffic violations, credit history issues, etc ?
