Yes, NFOs can become CO of a carrier. From what I have heard, the Navy uses this position as a “stepping stone” for Aviators/NFOs in the selection/promotion process to Flag Officer (O-6 to O-7).

SWO is usually CO of cruisers/destroyers/etc., however, SWO Flag Officers may take command of carrier battle groups.

Texted my recruiter yesterday to get some information about stuff i can do while im waiting. I havent been pushing hard since i was told that im likely in the august board...... but she immediately texted me back "No Results Yet", making me think perhaps i'm in the May Board. We Shall See!

Did you check the at board list?

So the real question is when are these results coming? What is the average turn around for results?

I talked to several people who are well versed with Navy recruiting Command and all of them did not believe members would be getting told about OCS results before the message is out.
