25JAN21 PILOT/NFO BOARD

Has nothing to do with the OCS side of things. The command I am at has a huge manning gap in the next 9-18 months with no extra bodies coming in on the horizon, so June is the latest they could send me while still getting me commissioned in FY22.

Did you not submit a conditional release form approved by your CO as part of your application? I had to do this even as a reservist, that way I wouldn't run into any manning issues and I'd be free to ship as soon as OCS had a spot for me. Just curious.

Does anyone have any advice on how to work on swimming geared towards OCS? I can swim, but have never done anything competitive with it so I have no idea what to work on or where I am at ability-wise.

Don't have any training advise, but I do recommend watching this video if you haven't already. It's only a few months old and it goes over the actual swim events and what you'll need in order to pass them. It seems like the requirements are almost identical from what the Enlisted members do during bootcamp and from what I did when I went through Great Lakes 12 years ago. Hope it helps

Not sure on that one... the package does state available for immediate transfer though.

Yes but its up to your recruiter if s/he wants to send the statement and bother command for it.
My recruiter got back to me and said that immediate fill is for people who lost their job, have no pay, or no place to live. A "hardship." I'm not sure if that's what your's said or not. I'm in a position where I can afford to wait (though I don't want to) and I don't want to take a spot from someone who really needs to join.

It’s all going to be based off your handwritten statement. I didn’t submit a hardship in mine, so if I’m given an early spot, it’ll only be because there was room.

OR said I'm in an "early OCS" pile which I think is clearly after age critical, Hardship waiver and handwritten request (I didn't do anything like that). So basically I think I'll get a date sooner rather than later but it's not part of an official request, the only thing I know is that Big Navy wants me to go ASAP because I'm older lol.

I think it's a good idea to request earlier dates through whatever channel you can if you're ready to go. No point in sitting around if they've got room to fit you in. Personally I'm taking every extra day I get for physical preparedness.

Hey guys,

I am hopping on this thread to get some insights and information hopefully. Although I submitted my application for the May board, I was wondering what the general timeline looks like from when the board convenes to getting unofficially selected to getting prorec Y. I know it’s a lot of waiting but if I could get a rough estimate on how long till after board convenes to get unofficial and official results it would be great.

thanks everyone and congrats to you all who finally heard back and got selected!

The timeline is...there is no timeline. Every board has been different and every person has a different timeline. As hard as this is to hear, yah just got to wait. Trust me, I was in your place not long ago.

this is interesting. my recruiter is still telling me that he cannot process anything without an OCS date. is it possible that he doesnt want to push it through to his command or what else could I be missing here?
