Anybody know how often is appropriate to ask your recruiter about class dates and new info? I have not heard from him since he called me with the board results. I would like to hound him to see if he can't get me squeezed in like some of you have done on here but I am new to all this and am not sure if I should.

I don't think there is a right answer to this one. It doesn't hurt you to give them a call once in a while, especially if you have questions, but so long as you aren't hounding them on a daily basis you should be fine. In all honesty, if your recruiter hasn't hasn't reached out about trying to get you into an early spot up until now, it's unlikely that they will start doing so even after a call. Despite all of this, there really may be nothing they can do anyways other than wait for OTCN to give them a call. This however, is just conjecture as I can't be certain one way or the other if the recruiters have any sway on ship dates.

From what I have heard, the only way to officially expedite the process is to prove that you have some sort of hardship by staying at home. An example would be that your lease is ending and you can not afford to sign a new lease because you already left your current job. If you file a petition through your OR, they will try and squeeze you into an earlier class.

What KFC said is absolutely correct, I had the same problems with my old recruiter however after moving on to a new one and putting in a financial hardship and voila! I had an appointment at MEPS to complete my background check so that I can get sent off as soon as possible, mind you I hadn't heard anything from my recruiter in weeks! Take your career in your own hands and FIND A WAY to GET IT DONE! lol

your recruiter should have a weekly check in with you, even if all it consist of is "hey how was the weekend" or "you didn't get arrested did you"

Did you receive an OCS date yet?

No not yet, however my recruiter called me last week to set up my trip to MEPS next Monday, more than likely I’m thinking I’ll either be in the class on September 27th or Oct 18th.
Well here’s to hoping that we might be in the same class! Good luck!

Does anyone know for sure how the OCS class slots are filled? Is it a physical list of applicants that have been arranged in some sort of predetermined order, or is it just a random pooling of individuals that they draw out of hat so to speak? Or, does it really have to do with the OR keeping an eye out for slots that open up from cancellations?

How were you able to submit your package without going to MEPS? Besides the ASTB, that was one of the first things my recruiter had me do.

But in all seriousness, im not really sure. I'm guessing it goes on needs of the navy, who was selected first, and hardships. I checked last night and there were 21 open seats for males and 2 for females in the 27Sep class. Now those may already have names attached to them just waiting on orders. I dont know for sure.
