31OCT22 SNA/SNFO BOARD

I definitely feel for ya dude. When I initially enlisted back in 2013 I had a few meps run arounds because I had a bunch of documented sports injuries and stuff from when I played hockey that they wanted clarification on. Was a massive pain in the ass. I’m hopeful that since they have my military medical record from when I was in as well as the fact that nothing has changed for me health wise in the last 3 years that I’ll be in and out no problem
When you are outside of your MSO they will look at you just like a brand new accession, at least all the documentation will be available, if you needed waivers then you will probably need waivers again.

My recruiter told me that "if selected" (please God!) I could be waiting up to two years before shipping out for OCS and flight training. Has anyone else heard this or is this typical? Talked to my buddy going through the pipeline rn and he mentioned he left within two months of being selected.

The last board was getting OCS dates for Jun to Aug 2023, so I don't think it will be as long as two years; more like a year and maybe a few months at most, but I'm being a bit optimistic.
I'm also not a great reference here because if I get picked up it will also be with BDCP as a junior in college so no matter what at the earliest I'm looking at probably late summer 2024

For the older folk here (I'm 28), who is shooting for fighters (being positive that we will all be picked up and pass medical)? My worry is battling it out with the youngins who have more energy and pep. I've heard old folk isn't very desirable in the fighter community, any truth to this?

I would think it could be the other way around. Typically as an older individual you might have better attention to detail. I'd call bs on this though. If you can fly and score better than your younger peers you should be good

I sure hope so. I know it’s not the same service but fighter units in the air national guard tend to not like hiring older folk (28-29 and older). They said they don’t perform as well and have high wash out rates.

They changed the age cap for a reason. Trust me when I say that young doesn’t equal good!

I’m applying as a 30 yr old who’s been in for almost 12 years.

The Airforce (and all of its sub branches) are SUPER picky as well. I wouldn't worry about their requirements if you're all in on the navy.

Have either of you seen any older (28+) SNAs who were able to select tailhook?
