7 FEB 2018 Aviation Board

NRC has been working on dolling out a program that gives immediate selection to "exceptionally qualified candidates". It hasn't been activated nor has it gone anywhere past "we are working on this phase".

They have been working on this for like 7 years

With that being said, these boards do consider the "whole person"

for aviation they don't, all about ASTB

Problably going to get shat on for saying this, but with being pro rec'd no on the July board, I can't help but feel that they do look at more than ASTB/GPA. Now let me say this first, I know my stats are average, but looking back on the July board thread, there are too many applicants that got pick up with lower stats than me for me to belive it's all about the scores. There has to be other things that they look for, esspecially dealing with a more average aplicant.

This is ONLY for the new process of selecting applicants based on high GPA and ASTB combos

The started looking at this back in 2010, and whole person concept is said, but is not actually used for the aviation boards, it has been that way for over 10 years

I feel like we're talking about different things. Like ASTB and GPA are used for this new automatic selection program they want to try if I'm not mistaken.

and that is what was used in the past as well, it just wasn't automatic, the record had to pass before a person's eyes.

They have talked about the automatic selection if a person met requirements for so many years.

Ahhh makes sense. I'm not sure why the "whole person" concept is thrown around so frequently then.

I was told my packet has made it to the board. My recruiter thinks I have a good shot of getting accepted. 3.4 GPA in Aeronautical Engineering with a 72 OAR... keeping my fingers crossed, sounds like we should get word back around end of feb. Wish you guys the best of luck!

With those ASTB scores, I'd be surprised if you didn't get picked up

Hey guys my package got submitted back in October for this board and my recruiter retired three weeks later I was told I had a new recruiter that was taking over for the one that just retirees by my processor and I called and called and called and finally got throw to the recruiter and he told me we didn’t need to stay in contact that he would call me when the board results have been released. Being that it’s close to the board date I just thought I would try and reach out to him and make sure all is well. And he will not answer his phone or return my text or calls. Any advice on what I should do. Also is their any recruiters on this page that can give me any ideas of what’s available as a navy officer other than SWO and pilot/NFO.

You got your answer right there. Hurry up and wait like the rest of us :)

Check out this reddit comment. From what I've seen, Intel/IW/IP and Supply are the next most common other than the ones you mentioned.

Wait a second... Did you really apply to the navy with only looking at two communities!? That seems a little out there to me man.

Not trying to be a dick just curious how that happened.
