2 piece flight suits, eh? I'm sure the Marine Corps will see that....never?
2 sleeve rolls, green shirt. Green suits winter, tan suits summer. right side shoulder patch (WTI or squadron type). simplicity is king sometimes...yet no bag off base is the party line...glad I don't live near an MC base cuz I can be as nasty as I wanna be.

HMX-1 was apparently wearing them right along with my squadron for the test.

Must be that high level of professionalism they instilled in you as a skid guy.

I've heard they're way higher quality than lowly -46 or plopter pilots....

Until I call Tascosa, Amarillo High, Caprock and Palo Duro and tell the chubby chicks you're wearing the new two-piece bacon suit. Where's your god now? :D

p.s. I miss Amarillo.

Hell yeah, it is. At least they have their ages on their nametags; it keeps Chris Hansen off my ass.

All I want to know is where can we wear the "Tactics is for homos" patch? I don't want to fucking HEAR anything about the word from homo, whoever is already typing a response!

Guess you should wear two of the "tactics is for homos" patches. Keep it real!

the graduate level tactics guys will wear their required patch on the right, and the "you must respect my authoritor!!" patch on the left. just in case they walk into the room left shoulder first, vice right.

2-Pc Combat Suit

Two piece flight suits? Nothing new under the sun.

2piece.jpg

Yeah Cat, our 2 A-4 Squadrons (VA55/VA-146) also wore 2-piece Marine Fatigues w/ black collar rank insignia, black wings & name tags & olive web belt w/ black buckle. In the early days '66-'67, CAG felt this was the way to go as the Jungle Cammies were unknown at that time, Different Air Wings dictated there own preference for combat flight suits.

No fire protection but WTH, don't catch on fire! :hot_animaI did, but luckily, it trailed behind me...

GREAT PIX !!!

And that's the way we used to do it ... lightweight green nomex bags (some w/ the HUGE white nametags), orange bags, Army 2-piece, and the occasional tan bag (usually cotton in the ol' days and 'officially' frowned upon) ... basically whatever you wanted to wear ... sometimes dictated by the mission, the locale, and/or the WX for that given day ...

I had beaucoup green nomex (lightweight) and the 'replacement' OD nomex (never liked it as well), the orange nomex, and an Army 2-piece ... and when I got to the Reserves, I managed to barter/trade for a Navy Blue nomex, a tan nomex, and a 'cherry red' nomex. Always something available in the ol' days for the discerning Naval Aviator to be nattily attired in ... :)

p.s. ... the guy on the rear-right looks very familiar.

The Dude on the rear right (standing to my left), is the late CDR (LT in the pic) Vance Schufeldt. Saw his name on an internet USNA Memorial site saying he had passed away in the late-70s, with no info as to how he had died??? A Canoe U. grad around '63, he was an RP of mine when I was IP in VA-125. He was a fine gent, and outstanding stick. His combat Sqdn was VA-163 and he made his name in the successful delivery of SHRIKE & the then new WALLEYE TV Guided Missiles. When we both reported to VA-44 A-4 RAG at Cecil Field in '68, I became Weps Training, and Vance was assigned as my Asst. in Shrike/Walleye Delivery. Everyone who knew figured he would one day wear stars. RIP Vance.:icon_zbee

Two piece flight suit message. Addresses Marine garrison cap for wear with it so would follow that Marines can wear the two piece.

Did someone mention VA-44?:)

Hey Hugh! Doing okay out there? Cold as shit back here! AND… were expecting another ice storm tonight.

(Have you heard from Debbie? Last I heard Ron was being airlifted to another hospital. I miss the “old fart’s” phone calls. BTW… you owe me a call!)
