I like the proposal for the Marines to forgo the purchase of the F-35B for the "F/A-22N"..

I'd looove to see these guys explain how to launch one off of an Anphib..

Yeah this article just reeked of anti-JSFism.

Would the Air Force ever let this happen? They seem pretty territorial about these kinds of things.

You are forgetting the power of the almighty dollar. The USAF doesn't have the final say in procurement decisions and Lockheed would gladly sell to whoever has the money to buy the Raptor, so the USAF wanting it's own special toy is not the reason we are not buying it.

The multiple cruise missile threat, isn't that what AEGIS was designed for?

"No matter how hot she is, someone, somewhere, is completely tired of her shit."

Flash already said it best - this would be fun if we had the money. But what we'd gain from having a Navalized F-22 is nowhere near the cash and political capital we'd have to expend to get it.

And keeping it on the UNCLASS level... there are reasons this would be a good idea, but ASCM defense ain't it.

I think we should have gone with thrust vectoring F-14 (Tomcat 21)....and maybe in a few years we could have had one of the F-14s from Robotech as well.

only problem with that mumbles is that it requires us to immediately enter WWIII, as evidenced from the 'shroom clouds in the background.

At least these guys are actually advocating an expansion of our capabilities, unlike many defense critics of the "simpler, cheaper" school. A lot of folks would rather us buy the cheap, crappy weapons, like those of the enemies we routinely beat the crap out of. Examples being Pierre Sprey or Carlton Meyer.

Over a production run of some 500 aircraft...
Does this mean 500 total or just N models? Total it's a stretch, just N's is full retard. Come to think of it, this article pretty much is the latter anyway so why can't the Navy get 500 of 'em!
