anyone who has been through OCS?

My husband is at OCS right now and I have not heard from him yet so I'm wondering when the first time they are allowed to call home might be. I would also like to know a little about what he is going through and if anyone has suggestions for me about what to send him and also about times i might be allowed to see him.

I got a call home on the first night.

What is he going through? Well.. it's Wednesday... so if it's first week... it sucks.

Yes, it's the first week. He started June 14th but I have not heard from him at all. What was the first week like? I have heard that it's the hardest.

Dont be surprised if you dont recognize him. My wife didn't know it was me calling due to my voice being so shot. The first call home can be rough.

I don't even have an address so I can send him letters yet, should I have that this first week? Also, someone told us about a dinner later on in the program that I could attend, what's that all about?

Thats the Hi moms dinner which is the night before graduation. Its fun. When he calls you, he should be able to give you a decent mailing address. Just be sure to send pictures of you if you know what I mean...

what percent of RL officers get jets?
if you live near newport, you can go visit him on sundays at the chapel on base. yea... i second skim on sending him pictures. can't guarantee you that he won't share them with his classmates though. given that he hasn't called you yet, he's probably not in holding company (they get to make calls right away). and if he's not in holding company, his life sucks right about now =)

Hmm...1800 on Wake-up Wednesday...Probably at dinner chow right about now, hating life, and wondering what he could have possibly been thinking going there. That being said, he's only got about four more hours to be awake today, then tomorrow starts. It gets better, but it gets worse before that point. Tell him good luck from a prior OCS grad. And yeah, he'll call, he'll probably cry, but it's a quick three months.
