what percent of RL officers get jets?
Hi. My husband is in his 4th week at OCS. The first week is very difficult for them, and I know it is for you as well. Just try to be strong for him and put yourself aside. He really needs your support right now. Your SO will find out about Dining Out a few weeks before it occurs. My husbands is in a few weeks from now and he just found out last week. There is a private spouses forum on Airwarriors that has a lot of info if you are interested. Good luck.

today is thursday... RLP!

As the others suggested, I would not count on hearing from him until atleast this Sunday. He will probably sound a little stressed, but you will notice that as the weeks go by he will start sounding better. My only suggestion would be to not bombard him with too much external stress and to just be supportive.
If he has a good sense of humor, I could suggest a few things you could do to liven up his class. For example, large bags of M&M's can really help to get the class into shape. :) In my class a spouse sent a very large pair of women's underwear. It worked out very well. Since the DI lost his composure, we had a free evening.....

So you only have a few weeks notice of when it will be? I live in Texas and have two kids... I hope there's enough time for me to plan (and afford) to get there. What is your husband going to do after OCS?

As has already been said, not every class gets a dining out. The only "dinner" you can be sure of is the one the night before graduation. I was at OCS for a looong time (20 or so weeks) and I never got to go to a dinning out. Its all timing and luck of the draw. Hopefully for your sake he gets one, but I wouldn't get too excited about it until he tells you that he actually has a dining out.

If you stuck around, our class got one Xmid

I think I probably had a better time with all the springbreak girls at the Florabama and getting ensign pay to do virtually nothing, but good for you guys. You deserved it after all the shit you went through. Especially RLP... Thats one you can be pretty proud to have survived dude...

Is there anything that i can send to him that would make him feel better?

As others have said, send pictures and letters of support, encouragement and love. Know that what you send may not be private, so use your discretion.

DO NOT SEND HIM GEEDUNK (e.g.: candy, junk food, cookies, etc.), unless you want to punish him.

My husband is going to flight school after OCS.
It is hard with such short notice for planning trips, but I guess it is just part of being married to a person in the Navy.
Some airlines have discounted rates for military. You could try that if possible?
I was thinking that my husbands dining out is the 2nd weekend in July, I am not sure if your husband will be in the same group or not? Anyway, send me a private message if you want to talk more.

I liked letters because my family hid little treats in there which I would eat after taps. Just a little thing but it was nice.

Is mail call still a tedious evolution?

Depends on the class. Some get beat (SORRY! "RPT") to claim a letter/package.

The two classes I was in, letters were just given to the "Mail Body" to disperse to the class. If you had a package, you had to personally claim it from your DI.

Even with all my "fun" packages, I never got beat for any of them.

Other classes did for even letters.

What items were in your fun packages? How fun are we talking?
