Just wanted to know if anyone had any notes from API on course material. Just wanted to start reading up and getting a base to start from. Anything would be useful. Thanks.

Grab a couple of your buds and head down to the beach for some all-you-can-eat crab legs. Just add beer and few lady friends and you've got youself all the notes you need till you class up. Seriously.

Follow Steve's advice. Don't start studying until like the weekend before you start. Even then, just browse the Aero-1 pub and continue to take Steve's advice.

Hell, even in API, take Steve's advice... and throw in some studying.

Too true.

If you're a flash-card dependent person, you may want to start by making them for the Enabling Objectives for each chapter...otherwise, I would just browse the aero and wx pubs 1 week prior and spend some more cash on booze and strippers.

Start by memorizing the T-34 NATOPS cover to cover, paying special attention to all notes, warnings and cautions. If you can't recite this basic knowlege by the 2nd day of API you have no chance at all of getting jets.

Either that, or go have a beer (or 7).

Steve is right- in a lot of cases those lady friends will be able to tell you everything you ever wanted/needed to know about flight school... gouge on IP's and phases of training etc. If you are lucky they may have an extra set of flash cards laying around for you. You probably shouldn't ask them how they came by all of this information, unless you really want to know... that, and how many kids they have.

Actually it is really funny!!!!

If they don't know they are playing coy, just so you can sound cool and macho, before you know it you are sitting at her (parent's) house burping her illegitimate child.

Thanks for the input guys. Some of you recommended browsing over an Aero-1 pub. Any thoughts on where I might find one. I'm stashed at the Pentagon for the next month and the aviators in my office are just telling me to go over pubs while I'm here, but I don't have any.

if you're at the Pentagon, then I wouldn't worry about studying just yet. Go down to Alexandria, or Georgetown and have a few drinks.... worry about Pensacola when you get to Pensacola.

Yeah, you have PLENTY of time to work on that later.

Okay, fine. If you reeeeaaalllly, really, really, really want to waste your time studying for API, by making flashcards instead of getting laid (??), and wasting your PAID VACATION(?!!), then go to www.navygouge.com. They've got the enabling objectives already typed out for your flashcards.

Seriously though, that's overkill. Enjoy your time now while you have it, you won't get anymore while you're in the training command. Go drink and head to the beach. It will make you a better "stick" in the plane, trust me!!:) haha, have fun

I waited 9 months before I started API. Had the pubs too. I didnt crack a single page open until the week before I classed up. The instructors will tell you whats important so dont worry. Plus, you'll have awesome classmates who will help should you need it. Alright, I think the horse has been beaten beyond believe on this topic. Might I suggest reading other Pre-API studying threads and you'll begin to see a pattern....
