API Gouge

I understand the emphasis on the whole work ethic thing... but you should also keep in mind that they design API to be done well without giving up your weekends for 6 months prior to reporting. I made it a point to bust my ass all week, and give myself Friday night to unwind/wreak havoc on the beach. That said, my average, along with most of those in the class, was well above 85. If you have to sacrifice your entire life IOT pass, then good on you. Try not to forget that maintaining some degree of normalcy is often times just as important as those Friday night study sessions.

While in general, I tend to agree, the point that future API'ers may have to keep in mind is that 2 or 4 points may make or break you. As with everything else, it's cyclical, but Venom makes a good point. Just two years ago, every point did matter. Back in or day, Lewie, API even counted on your Primary selection. I'm sure it will again someday.

BUT... As my dad always told me: "Don't sweat the small stuff. And it's all small stuff."
...and hence this little gem from the same post:

Now, if you are borderline not making it through the program.....you need to do whatever you need to do to get through. Game over before the game even gets started if you don't at least get through API

Wasn't really disagreeing with you, but adding onto it. Those 2 or 4 points might help you down the road if API counted, but you wouldn't know. Spilled milk, I know, but it's possible. All that said, I didn't look at my books until Day 1.

Thanks for the input guys. Some of you recommended browsing over an Aero-1 pub. Any thoughts on where I might find one. I'm stashed at the Pentagon for the next month and the aviators in my office are just telling me to go over pubs while I'm here, but I don't have any.

Whoa whoa whoa, just hang on a second there buddy. You're stashed at the Pentagon? Which means you're in NoVa? Buddy, you'll be going to Penscola soon, which isn't a bad town by itself, but right now you're in one of the most cosmopolitan parts of the country. Here is my recommendation:

EAT

DRINK

SLEEP

HOT B!TCHES

HOOKERS AND BLOW

REPEAT

Clear?

You guys are killing my self-righteousness about staying home every Friday night during API and Pri ground school. I guess it wouldn't be called the minimum if it wasn't acceptable.
For the records, "MAGTF warriors aren't in the *habit patterns* of doing the bare minimum." Most second lieuies should recognize that quote.

NO STUDYING ON FRIDAYS! That's a CARDINAL rule.

Studying way before API is not useful. You need to talk to the classes ahead of you, hear the instructors' foot stomps, and get in a good group to help explain things to each other. Seriously, you are going to do nothing but read the pubs over and over again then talk about what you read during API. (This from someone who always overstudies) I will say, make sure to read the material before class in order to go to the lecture prepared. That makes all the difference

Totally agree! Work your a$$ off during the week and on Sundays. Take a breath and drink some beer on Friday.

Dude?
What you can do before flight school to help you succeed:
Build instrument time.

Things that really don't matter:
Everything else.

D.C. = hot girls have two degrees.
Pensacola = hot girls have two kids.

P.S. If you just need something on your desk to make your bosses think you are studying, try the Far/Aim.

Pensacola Pipelines

Does anyone know which aircraft pipelines continue to train in P-cola after API?
