API/Primary wait

Hey by the way, any one who's been there, during API, (or Primary/ Int. for that matter), are students allowed to fly home for 96's (via out of bounds chit etc.)? Or are you held to the 400 or 500 mile radius? Also, what is the class up time for primary like after API (specifically NFO?) Thanks for any gouge.

From what I understand, yes... provided you submit a chit through the CoC...but apart from emergencies (which I believe are handled a bit differently), and the recent Christmas holiday period, I haven't heard of many people leaving the radius...which is 350 miles by the way.

As far as NFO primary goes, last I heard was that it is about a 2-3 month wait.

Schools Command may have a different policy, but I doubt it. Generally, if you want to go out of bounds, it requires a leave chit. Your milage may vary.

Schools command policy:

Outside of 350 miles AND/OR travelling by aircraft requires leave chit. Driving outside the general P-cola area (less than 350 miles) jusr requires you to sign the log in Student Control.

Of course, if you're taking part of a work day, leave chit required regardless of how far you're going.

As for taking leave during API... Doubt that'll happen unless its like a family emergency or something like that. Strictly a case by case basis.

FezzCB, I got down here in Ocotober '05 with IFS completed all the way back in June 05. So as I have no firsthand experience, but from talking with people who did IFS down here you could go within a month or two. Remember though, live by the gouge, die by the gouge.

NFO-primary-wait-gouge update:
Talked to some guys who are waiting to class up in primary this morning, they said 3-4 months.

Oh well, I waited six months to start API, so I'm used to making the most of downtime...

Fezz, I did IFS at Destin and finished right before Thanksgiving. The scuttlebutt on my classing up to API is early to mid feb although even that hasn't been confirmed. Just to give you something of a baseline.

Checked in 27 July 05... not even gonna guess at how many weeks I've been here... however many weeks are in 6 months.

Too add to what weinreb said, I finished IFS a week or so before he did and was told end of Jan, begining of Feb... looks like its going to be the beginning of Feb...

Thanks guys. As long as I get a paycheck every 2 wks, I'm good. But these pubs are starting to make me cross-eyed. Should i even be studying? Ok, what if i did the study questions? Am i "over-preparing" or should i just blow off these books and continue raising my Team Slayer rank on Halo 2?

You are over-preparing. API is easy and the classes tell you what you need to focus on when studying. It's called "flight SCHOOL" for a reason. Good on you for taking initiative but I think once you pick up you will realize that pre-studying wasn't necessary. But, if you're really bored by all means carry on.

Oh and it's about a 2-week wait for Marines at Corpus right now.

Fezz, how long have you been on these boards? Or are you just instigating?

I'm just giving you a hard time in the same way I was going to write "if anyone isn't studying for at least 8 hours before they start API, they're wrong. There's 24 hours in a day for a reason." Just because it's a topic that keeps coming up lately and I was finding it amusing. Don't take it personally.

Thanks gator. And i know the subject does come up often from us A-pool guys worrying about the academics of api. Esspecially us "non-tech" majors (BA Sociology). Anyways, anything to calm our nerves is greatly appreciated. As more advice pours in, the less i worry about it.
