Ok, this is from my original website, and when I went through API "cough" way back when, so maybe some things have changed, but to give you an idea of the flow, maybe some SNAs/SNFOs that just went through can point out some of the changes:

Is the obstacle course really no longer a part of API??? Am I showing my age here? I'm very disturbed if that's the case...

LOL - yeah... I guess they've brought everything down a few notches for the USAF folks. "Joint training" = "leave no child behind"!!

I thought it was bad enough that they stopped doing survival training at API... Now I'm really depressed.

WHEN I WAS IN API... We had to march everywhere barefoot, and drink jet fuel, and memorize the FAR/AIM...

Awwwwwwwww, why not cry us a river GM [:p]

Did you have to walk up hill both ways to get there, just so you could then march barefoot?

I can't believe you survived that terrible treatment....however will you get the terrible memories out of your head

Did you have paper to write things down or just dirt and a stick?

What do you mean... Those were great memories!!! They get better and better all the time.

Write things down? Back in the day, we committed everything to memory. Can still tell you the engine failure procedure for the T-34:
"Hundred chicken feathers; clean, look, lock, A-B-C, T-handle pull and talk!!"

Just like it was yesterday...

Back in the day?????? What are you, 80?

Actually that's good you remember everything...hopefully they still drill it into people's heads enough so that nobody can forget. Although that's not really helping you in school too much now!! That info isn't taking up precious space, is it? Don't want a lawyer who knows emergency procedures instead of amendments

Don't you watch TV?? You never know when my job might have me launching a T-34 off the carrier to go feet dry over Baghdad... Gotta keep that HAPL procedure in my back pocket.
