You start flying in your 4th week of Primary. So, you have 6 weeks of API, however long the pool is in-between API and Primary, then 3 weeks of ground school at primary. API is an abreviation for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination. It's an introduction into Aerodynamics, Engines, Weather, Navigation, Flight Rules and Regs, and such. Yes, you start flying in the T-34. I think NFO's do the same Primary training as the SNA's, but correct me if I'm wrong. The only difference is they do their training at NAS Pensacola (Sherman Field) where as the SNA's do their's at Whiting Field, or Corpus Christi, TX.
