They can approve an age waiver for Supply but SWO you are outside of the waiverable age.

PRO REC SNA!
Applying for SNA in December
24/M Non-Prior
ASTB - 9/9/9 67
Aeronautical Science degree - 2.92 (I failed some engineering pre-reqs my first two years, changed my degree and spent the rest of my time bringing it up from rock bottom)
LORs - Current Army O-3, two prior Naval Aviators (professors), prior employers
Recruiter is telling me I shouldn't need interviews.
Going to MEPS next week.
Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, 1600 hours.

Recruiter tells me my chances are good, I'm not so sure. Opinions?

I don't know if your package is going to make it to the board because of the change. You have to go MEPS beforehand and submit a PQ letter for SNA with your package if Im not mistaken. Nov 5 is the deadline.

First thing, see if you can push up your MEPS date, like BDfan said the deadline is the 5th, and it can take them a few days to process your paperwork, so the sooner the better.
Second thing, a recent change added a GPA requirement to SNA applications, at least 3.0 to be considered. Don't know if that's set in stone, you might want to ask your recruiter or NavyOffRec about that, but if so, and if you really have your heart set on Naval Aviation, you might need to go back to school (judging from the stats you posted, I'm guessing Riddle?), go for a master's or turn a minor into a major, and bump that GPA up.

Actually, to reiterate what NavyOffRec mentioned, below 3.0 is fine. You need 3.0 at least to be considered a "quality" applicant. Mine is just below 3.0 too.

From the "OCS Application changes" thread
(http://www.airwarriors.com/community/index.php?threads/ocs-application-changes.39781/)
NavyOffRec said:
Some clarification was put out given that goaling is now by applications rec'd not people selected, they did figure out how to limit what is submitted and it is or has been sent out via manual change/emails, now all this was read to me over the phone as I was driving so I am putting down what I remember.

- all applicants must be physically qualified prior to submission of application
- GPA 3.0 or [less] or will not be accepted, this might just be for Pilot/NFO/SWO/Supply
- ASTB scores in the upper band, this is thought to be 7,8,9

EDIT: I just realized you were the one NOR was talking to, I'll defer to your judgment since you will probably know more about it than I, by nature of your convo with him.

He said this later though:

" read the actual document today, and it isn't as strict as what I was told.

What is going on is they are designating people "quality" or "not quality" if a person is designated "not quality" the NRD and the recruiter receives no credit for that person, and it sounds as if a person is "not quality" they could still be picked but the boards will go thru the "quality" applicants first.

to be considered "quality" SWO/PILOT/NFO ASTB 6 or greater, OAR 48 or better, GPA 3.0 or better and physical done. Supply must have OAR 48 GPA 3.0 or greater AND interview from active supply office O-5 or above.

Understood, I probably should have read more of that thread than the first post
Both you guys have really strong applications anyway, esp considering your ASTB scores; GPA ideally shouldn't be that big a deal when it comes to applying.

When I read the change with my own eyes some things were not told to me correctly, it is on here somewhere, but "quality" is GPA over 3 and ASTB scores 6 or better, what I don't know is people that have one of each and with his aviation experience that was an exception to GPA.

I'm in MEPS on the 30th. The rest of the package is ready.

The problem is MEPS doesn't issue a PQ letter N3M does, MEPS cannot "clear" officer candidates, and from the date of the physical MEPS is allowed 5 working days to release the physical, this is because of bloodwork test, then it goes to N3M and they can take up to several working days as well, so from the day you take the MEPS physical you only 3 working days until the application deadline.
