Applying to the March 2013 Board

Used the Barron books and got a 5/6/5 49... I then decided to retake after using the flash card sites, .pdf gouge, and my books as study material. Ended up getting a 7/7/6 61.

The Barron's book is crap (my processor told me this after the fact!). I had a 6/7/6 54 - which was the lowest of all the SNA pro-recs here on AW. Considering how well I did on the AFOQT I was surprised.

Thanks for the gouge. I have been using all of the .pdf(s) and the flash cards as well. I have been using the Barrons book (officer candidate school tests version) for the math prep though. From what I have read else where it is good for the math section.

I was the same here. I dominated the AFOQT, not so much on the ASTB.

I got an 86 for pilot and nav, 90s for verbal and academic, and 80s in all other categories (quant and....?). Considering that I took the AFOQT first, I was surprised by my ASTB performance.

To me, the AFOQT was easier because the tests they use to calculator your Pilot/Nav score aren't as heavy on the spatial and general airplane knowledge as the ASTB was. Either way, I have no intrest in flying, so both of those tests were just "wasting time" ;)

I did qualify to apply for pilot for the Air Force, but not the Navy...

Proof that the Navy has higher standards!

That and everyone has to take the entire AFOQT, which is percentile based. So if you are 80th percentile, that is out of all officer applicants, even those who are just bubbling in "A" for all the answers on the sections irrelevant to their job.

Does anyone know if the March SNA/NFO board is still on? I hope we don't have to wait until July... Merry Christmas everyone!

Unless this is news more recent than a week or two ago, the SNA board is definitely in place for March. My OR is in the process of completing my package to send out by the end of January, so I certainly hope this hasn't changed.
