Bringing your SO with you to OCS?

I know that a girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse is not on the "To Bring" list (it's not on the "Not to Bring" list either :icon_wink ) but I was wondering if anyone is or has brought their girlfriends (or someone else) with them to Pensacola.

We are both graduating at the same time and since we have to get out of our apartment we decided to go together to Pensacola. She totally understands that she won't get to see me much while I'm there but she is okay with that. The only thing now is to try to find some place for her to stay. We have looked into apartments and most require a >3 month lease committment. We have also looked into extended stay hotels and some rental houses.

I was wondering if we are overlooking any options or if someone has an idea of where she could stay. Preferably, someplace close but also someplace safe.

Thanks for any of your input. BTW, I am in the 24JUN2006 Class.

Does she cook? She might be able to swing (no pun intended :D ) a deal with a few NFO's who have a house there in P-cola. Maybe sleep on the couch in exchange for cooked meals. I know if I was an SNFO, I would jump all over that.

What do you mean? I'm sure she'd be taken care of quite well while he's in OCS.

I guess that depends on what she looked like and how good she can cook.

I was being sarcastic, as I assume you were, on "jump[ing] all over" her... Note the AW smile! :)

Probably not much ... :icon_woma she could escape easily ... as most SNFO's, while having highly developed senses overall ... have poor eyesight ... :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

Oh man... I was curious where this topic might lead to.

I'm sure she will just jump all over that offer. Sleeping on a couch and cooking for a bunch of guys who just spent 3 months locked up with testosterone spilling over!!

I guess you did answer part of the question though so I can't go at you for that... that is an option we did not consider.

Ummm... anone ELSE have any suggestions?

:)

I can't give you specifics (it was a while ago), but a good friend of mine did exactly what you're talking about when he went through. His wife had a small appartment out the back gate and when he finally got liberty, he had a place to crash for the weekend. Seemed to work well for him.

We had a guy in my class who had his wife visit us (well, him) in Bat 1 when we were in candi-o phase. He skipped out some nights during the officer candidate phase to visit his wife in the car. Somehow he got away with it.

You could get married in Vegas so you could draw BAH.

Seriously, she'd be better off living with friends and family wherever that may be, because she's going to be on her own in a strange town not knowing anybody. That's kind of an odd deal.
