Hello All,

I am new to this site but I have been looking around posts on here for a while now. I am curious to know if anyone had any information on how long after the CEC Board coming up this month will I hear results on whether I got pro rec'ed or not. Any other applicants going up for CEC this month that know anything that I don't? Sorry if this has already been posted...

If the board is held on time, often I have seen it delayed, the results should be known 1-3 weeks after conclusion.

The recent info we rec'd is that this board is primarily for those in college who would take FY13 or later spots, they *may* select a few exceptional candidates for FY12, the term exceptional has varied between boards but the last time the boards members told me that meant greater 3.5 GPA, EIT, community service, and sports. I will say some of the board members have changed out.

Hi NavyOffRec,

I believe I will fall in the exceptional candidate category, at least as far as GPA and EIT are concerned. I have been informed that I have good chances depending on the “numbers”. I am curious what this actually means. I am assuming this means my chances are determined by the number of slots still available for FY12. Is this a possibility?

You are correct your chances are based upon quotas for FY12, I am guessing you have already graduated. The numbers are single digits on the last info that came out, however last year after one boards selections were made numbers were cut prior to the list being released, so a lot of people went from select to tabled.

Thanks for the info NavyOffRec.. So what exactly is competitive for the CEC officer selection process? I just graduated in December and I am just now signed up to take the FE in April... I am alright with being put in FY13 as long as I make it

Competitive varies depending on the board members, generally for CEC a board member or two change every 18 months so what they view may change, one of the last board members who I think may have left would not recommend a person that did not have an EIT certificate.
Looking at the last report from CNRC it conflicts a bit with the other emails, one says a few for FY12 the other says none.
FY13 is currently for those who have not graduated.

If they really like you they will make a not "tabled until billets available" they did that with one of my guys last year.

I'm currently waiting for the board results as well. I started the process 6 months ago and just finished MEPS. My recruiter thought it would be wise to get it out of the way. I've already got my EIT and I sit for me PE in april. I know the selection process is tight so I'm hoping my ace in the hole is that I've got ten years enlisted in the Seabees and I had the opportunity to interview with an admiral. So now I'm just waiting like the rest of you!

The Seabee time is a big plus, so is EIT, it looks like you have a couple good items, combine that with a real good GPA and you should get positive results.

I also am (hopefully) being considered for this board. I got my packet submitted down to the wire in DEC.:D I've been lurking on this site for a while, but it seems like everyone here is in the same boat as me.

(though hopefully if I get in, I wont have to be on many boats.;))

Anyways, I wonder how many that have already grad are being considered for this board when I interviewed with the CEC officer there were like 8 others after me... It took forever just to find out that the Jan board
had in fact not been cancelled, there seems to have been a great deal of misinformation floating around this board, and quite frankly my officer recruiter wasnt much help. Anyways I think I have as good a chance as everyone else so really I've just been trying not to think about it too much because hey, who knows what the needs of the Navy might be right?? especially with all the changing going on right now

It looks like there are 22 that are graduates for a few spots.
There appear to be 42 for the collegiate program.

I would say the percentages are about the same.

Does the same board determine active duty selections as well as reserves for CEC billets or are they two different boards?

They are two different boards and the criteria to get in are night and day between the two, essentially if you have a degree, EIT, and a pulse you have a decent shot at getting reserve CEC,
