CEC Board January 16 2012

My recruiter explained to me that the CEC board meets once every month or every other month depending on needs. From my understanding, it is the most frequent board that meets. I would submit your packet as soon as possible.

The notes on the weekly report for Reserve CEC is that FY12 is full and FY13 is "filling fast and open for now", FY13 starts in October so they are way ahead of the curve which means who knows when the next board in, and I would submit so when they do have a board it is there.

Thanks for the info. I didn't get an active duty spot, but The reserve officer recruiter seems to think my package is very strong so if possible I will submit for this month..
Congrats by the way, you got in right?

Yes, I think so. My recruiter told me that I was selected and now I'm waiting on my commissioning documents, which could take a few more weeks. My understanding and what I was told is that CEC doesn't have billets until O-5 and above so I'm not sure what sure what it means when NavyOffRec says that FY-12 is full. Perhaps staffing and manning requirements are full and that is different from billet requirements or slots. I'm just not sure.

The USN could need say x reserve CEC officers, but the question is where are those billets located, they have to match up the two so to speak, but not sure what he means by until O-5?

Does anyone know what is going on with the FS letters for active? Has anyone got their FS letter yet?
You need to talk to your recruiter, there is an issue with available billets and number selected, the region CEC officers sent out emails on this issue.

Just talked to my OR. Told me the same thing about billets and the number selected. Is it true that those selected could possibly be denied and have to reapply?

No, what the CEC community told us is that they will just be in a hold status.

Navyoffrec, if I understand correctly you are saying we will eventually receive our FS. It is just a matter of waiting for them to figure things out. If so this eases my mind. I was really getting worried. On a side note, thank you for the quick responses and the information you are providing us on this forum. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

I just got the call from my recruiter...although I was selected, the Navy has put a hold on all new reserve DCO's until October. I don't know if this just effects the CEC communitity or if it is for all new DCO's looking to go into the reserves. I've already been waiting 7 months, what's 6 more right?

Hello All and NavyoffRec,

I am just becoming a member of this site after lurking for a while and gathering information about OCS and DCO. I am currently a reservist who just left active duty (Navy by the way) on 12Apr12 and I am seeking a commission in either of the said programs. I am currently about 10 months from graduating with my B.S. in Computing Technology and after reading some of the posts in this thread it seems that you can apply while you are still a student is that correct? and is that true for OCS and DCO? I have a GPA of 3.63 and I plan on keeping it that high or even trying to raise it before I graduate. Any guidance on where I should start would be appreciated. I plan on speaking to the officer in charge at my reserve NOSC on NAS Whidbey Island as well, I just haven't had a chance to stop by and ask yet. Thank you again for any help, and good luck to everyone else who is interested.

The CEC accessions officers have not said worst case because they really don't know, it is a wait and see, a few years ago some SWO's were told worst case 6 months, many are just now getting OCS dates and will have a wait of nearly 2 years.

You should specify what designator you are looking for, given where you posted I would think CEC, but with that degree you cannot apply for CEC, and age factors in as well for many programs.
