Has anyone ever seen the picture of the 2 dudes on a jet ski and the one in the back is toating a Manpad?

Talk about a small target!

"Where'd the shot come from!?"..."I don't know, all I see are jetskiers!"

Yeah, but it can out run any helo we've got.

Ok, calling bull$hit on this one. Here are the figures:
  • HIND : 180 knots
  • CH-46 : 145 knots
  • CH-47 : 159 knots
    [*]CH-53 : 195 knots
    [*]UH-60 : 184 knots
    [*]MV-22 : 275 knots (airplane mode)

This from a simple 5 minute google search. Information located at WEBSITE

Maybe well armored but clearly not the fastest and can't hover very well. Oh and it only carries like 8 troops...

Furthermore, the Army contracted for the construction a a version of the CH-47 that was heavily armored and heavily gunned during the Vietnam War. Only four were built and of those only one survived the war. Information found at WEBSITE. They had problems stabilizing the platform due to the weight involved and the caliber of weapons being used.

"armed with up to five M2 .50 Cal. or M60D 7.62mm machine guns (four XM32 window and one XM33 ramp mounted), and two fixed-mounted XM34 M24A1 20mm cannon and two M18/M18A1 pod-mounted 7.62mm miniguns , or two XM159B/XM159C 19-tube 2.75 inch rocket launchers, and a chin-mounted 40mm automatic grenade launcher on the M5 armament subsystem. They also featured added armor protection for the crew and some critical components"

Hey SNA, do you know the difference between knots and mph? The very website that you cited actually switches between the two. Here is what it really says (converted for you, in case you can't use your whiz wheel)

HIND 180 kts = 180 kts
CH-46 145 kts = 145 kts
CH-47 159 mph = 138 kts
CH-53 195 mph = 169 kts
UH-60 184 mph = 160 kts

Oh, and BTW the MV-22 is not a fvcking helo.

All that is from a 5 second look at the website that you cited, but then again when you get your wings they teach the difference between knots and mph.

WTF do you know about hovering? When you can keep it inside the confines of Spencer come back and talk to me.

And wtf does the rest of your post have anything to do with what I said?

Oh BTW, I fly I a version of the 60, so I might have a clue about how fast they go, and other tactical difference between my helo and a HIND, so sit down and STFU.

Hey SNA, (read his post if you want to know, I get sick of seeing long quotes)

Ok, granted it appears that I misread it, clearly from haste so I apologize for that. Yes, the MV-22 is not a helo however it is entering service to take on the same missions so I thought I would add it in extra. Yes the mph was a stupid mistake, I never claimed to be perfect but then again you don't have to be an a$$ about it. Such is life however.(further comments edited)

You know, the second half of my post doesn't have anything to do with your post, I was responding to the original question and the topic as a whole. (further comments edited)

I've taken one right up to the redline (180 kts), in a Block I, no less....

Of course I was going down hill. :) Smooth as silk, though.

I had a Cobra at 190 (NATOPS limt) on a return from SDLM run no stores, no ALE buckets, didnt even have to pull "FCP Torque"

But that is the only time I have seen a Snake go that fast. 150-160 is a safe bet for us but 120 is normal cruise or 90 when we are flying mixed sections with the fat kid.

How much does cruising around with the heavy's effect your combat radius? Not being a Helo pilot and knowing anything about the actual operations outside of they make me uncomfortable in the pattern up here, just wondering.

OK now Im calling bulllsh!t, there is no way you fly Phrogs with that bit of tactical knowledge (or any for that matter) in your head. Who are you really?
(no smiles but the sentiment is there)
OK, you caught me... I used to be a Cobra pilot, then they realized that I liked beer and women too much, so they switched me over to Phrogs... :D
