There are significant performance benefits for a harrier doing a rolling vertical landing even as slow as 50kts. When you factor in some wind and the boat’s speed it’s really not that fast. I assume it’s similar for an osprey.What's the advantage of the running landing in this particular scenario? I understand the effects of translational lift, but I don't imagine the thing would be able to carry that much forward momentum with such a short stopping distance required.
