The Dems are out to get Trump, his advocates and any elected GOP politician that supports him. They’ve shown this repeatedly the last 4 years and they are showing this with their current rhetoric and hypocrisy.

For the record, I like Trump’s policies not the man. Trump as a person is a huge asshole and egomaniac. I think Trump lost the election but there was enough questionable stuff that an investigation should be launched to ensure future elections do not have this same level of doubt from voters. I think Trump’s conduct since the election has been abysmal but it is not impeachable. I think Trump’s actions in the run up to the elect lost him the election. I think his actions since the election lost the GOP the Georgia senate seats. I don’t think Trump should run again in 2024. I think the riots at the Capitol were wrong, illegal and people should be held accountable under the law, but they were not an armed insurrection or coup attempt. I feel the same for last summer’s riots and that the hypocrisy is glaring.

Nice diversion. I'm asking about the actual case that happened, which is apparently more nuanced than you originally claimed. You also never answered my question: if you were accused of a crime in a paper, would you want social media to advertise that? Would you want 'evidence' taken out of context and obtained outside of due process released to the public? How would you feel comfortable about your ability to get a fair trial if everyone automatically assumed you are guilty?

If anything I think social media should delete MORE posts where the facts are incomplete, such as the death of George Floyd. We have due process for a reason, and preventing the massive spread of immature, incomplete, and most likely incorrect information is probably the best thing any social media company can do. Like, I would love if every stupid meme that was proven wrong by a simple fact check was instantly deleted. Maybe we wouldn't have so many idiots thinking that the COVID-19 vaccine would make you retarded. The world wonders. Think of the possibilities.

I don't think that Facebook / Twitter / et al should be a platform for flat earthers, scientologists, or whatever other demented ideologies people may have in the name of 'free speech.' And yeah, Trump probably should have been banned two years ago along with them because he posts some off-the-wall bullshit sometimes. If people can't objectively support what they're posting with facts that have undergone judicial or scientific review, it should be deleted.

He was exonerated, but his name is still searchable on google for a 'crime' he didn't commit. How do you think that affects his life? His career opportunities?

He deleted all of his social media accounts, because he was being too harassed. It would be great if they gave a shit about him enough to delete make believe stories from the NY Post, but they don't because he's not a national politician.

I understand what your saying but it's still wrong. "The everyone else was doing it" won't hold up. Nor should it. And there is such a thing as guilt by association. And doing nothing, as the other officers involved in the George Floyd killing are all too aware, can be criminal. With all that being said, it's going to be a nightmare for prosecutors to filter through the video and start calling balls and strikes.

I think this is where you jumped the shark for me. You, along with everyone else, are entitled to your own opinions. And you should be able to share your opinions and engage in the marketplace of ideas.

But I’m surprised that you are arguing against free speech, and not just the Constitutionally protected kind that allows someone to criticize the government. The fact that you want everything anyone puts on social media to pass YOUR specific standard for what is printable, and what is not.

And the fact that a college-educated adult feels like they should have that power over other free people scares me. On that note, you should ask to join the mod team here. They love deleting words they don’t like.

OK no. Come on, she didn't attend a political rally, she attended a riot.
Her actual culpability can't be determined here (ie did she stay back and not go into the Capitol?) and would be up to the appropriate UCMJ authority to determine.
From what I see she resigned voluntarily and wasn't denied due process at all. I don't blame her, because I suspect she realized that association with something like this is NOT something you can easily recover from (probably bottom of the pack in every rack and stack while she's at that command for poor judgment).

Let's not use hyperbole, because that's exactly what got us here in the first place.
I agree the Congressman's opinion is not "helpful" but I would have a hard time disagreeing that a PSYOPs Captain in the SF who can't recognize misinformation probably isn't going to be very effective at her job in support of the SF mission.
