Left seater controls the radios, the nav, makes the decisions, says "go here, go there" (at least in the Army). I affectionately call it the "power seat."

Nice pic phrog.

Pretty much how the RIO/WSO relationship works with the "stick monkey" in the front while the backseat is working radios, Nav and the rest of the stuff you mentioned...:D

Thanks for the kudos on the pic. As for crew duties, we break them up a little differently in the USMC. It honestly doesn't matter which seat you sit in (other than the right seat controls the blade fold, and the left seat controls the Form/Blade Tip Lights). We generally split the duties 50/50, the Pilot Not at the Controls deals with the radios, navigates, keeps track of pax, etc... Pilot at the Controls flies. The guy that makes the decisions is the HAC, and if you're in a flight leadership role, you may do all of the above and never touch the controls...

So, just curious...do ya'll play paper rock scissors? or the fastest one to call "shotgun" :D

These are all great pics guys. I might decide on drawing one for my art class. I'll ask before I decide on drawing though...unless you give me the go-ahead.

First one is July 4, 2006, Al Asad Iraq. Smoking cigars and if you look closely, still packing heat.
Second one is a visit to Al Taqqadam later.

Thought I would add a few from me :)

The first one was in the back of the Superbug with VFA122. This was when the IPs were still doing their training.

This sequence was shot at the Paris Airshow a few years ago. I got to become the first journo/photog to fly in the Mirage 2000-5 - from the front seat. I got to fly with a good friend of mine Claude Martin who was one of the Senior Test Pilots at Dassault and also the Air Show Director for the Paris Airshow, which was why we were allowed to come down the runway at Le Bourget inverted at 200ft :D:D

Believe me its a bitch trying to take photos while inverted and hanging in your straps.

^^^^This is unfair to future posters on this thread, as it makes those photos that come after yours look less cool.:D
