The future of IAs are PCS orders between ship/shore rotation or vice versa. I believe they are called GSAs, although I am not sure what that stands for. . .

I did an IA down to GTMO when I was an Ensign and learned a lot. Each group that goes down gets a more focused training session as well as gouge from the previous group.

As for this LT, she sounds poorly suited for the military. The particular billet you were sent on is often switched when you get there. The guy from my command who was supposedly filling my billet (2 rotations after me) was a poor choice to work my old job. So they switched him. The CO was smart, he interviewed his people. Which would have happened to her if she had faith in the Navy.

"Unfortunately, not all IAs have been that lucky."

Yes, I can imagine a poor CO can make an IA tough. But in a situation like that, I am sure there would be someone with common sense to tell that having a woman in a commerce job (that requires a man for cultural reasons) is a bad choice. And I would hope that the appropriate change would be made.

Heh heh. . .

We did shuffle one or two folks around. (Or I should say the OpsO/CO did.)

This LT should have bitten the bullet and done the best job she could have. Her lack of results at the position, combined with leadership with any amount of common sense, would have led to her being re-assigned to a more suitable billet.

Yes, but the same "shut up and take the pain" argument applied to going on an IA in the first place often gets applied when you're in-country and everyone else is also mis-utilized as an IA, and the folks you're supporting don't care anymore b/c they've only got 3 months left on a 15 month deployment.

IAs could be detailed much better than they are, but probably not with the manpower currently assigned to do it. While I'll say that the "claimed" reasons behind her "protest" are legitimate, the CNO has already devoted his attention to it, and has already committed all the resources he's going to commit.

End analysis - she's an idiot.

I don't like night traps. Anyone think this will work for me?! I think the world should know how the Navy is unnecessarily causing me stress with dark landings on the ship. I was born during the day. How am I supposed to land at night?! I'm not very religious, but they make me pray for a whole 3/4 of a mile every night! That's 15-17 seconds!!! That is not fair!!

Are you sure you did an IA?!?!?!?!

This could be you some day (not CNO, but maybe one of you SAT-21 types...), but definitely one of the IAs listening to CNO during his jetsetting trip around Central Command.
