Here is my bold prediction:
Sooner or later there will be a severe public health crisis, where a disease will be spreading that is extremely communicable AND life threatening to a large part of the population that is exposed. A real crisis. However the way we have handled this relatively minor situation will destroy the ability to respond to the next one. It is like hurricane season on the coast where every hurricane is the worst one ever and gets played up like the end of times and then is relatively minor. People stop heeding the warnings and start to " ride them out. "
When the next huge one hits, the price will be paid.
Covid is real, and can be dangerous to relatively small percentage of the population. It is not the Black Death. At this stage in our experience with it, we should be reacting with logic, not fear.
I have had conversations over the year around flu season with friends and co-workers about the flu shot. One person said they got it, and get them every year. Another person will claim to have gotten sick anyway, and swears they will never get it again. Then everyone went about their business, and no one tried to get the other person banished from work, refuse admittance to a medical care office, the gym, etc.
To top that off, I have never heard in person, or in media where people have wished death on either camp in the flu shot arena.
