The Pine Street Inn homeless shelter responded to a cluster of coronavirus cases by testing 397 people and discovered that 146 were positive for COVID-19 and had no symptoms.www.dailymail.co.uk
146 out of 397 tested positive with no symptoms at one homeless shelter. It will be interesting to see how many eventually develop symptoms, and if this is common among the rest of the population.

Dude, totally agree. I don't know why she spelled out those four things when in reality they are only a few of many areas of those stores prone to browsers (fuck you dollar section!). That said, I still don't have a better solution. You can't just outright say "stay home unless your safety/physiological needs are going to be compromised". You'd have the entitled Karen's claiming that shopping for new lawn flamingos is crucial to their mental well being. Unfortunately, there is a small minority of society that just.does.not.get.it unless you Barney style it for them.

What Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham are peddling from their studio in NYC is not based on the reality of what is happening in Michigan. It is driven by their desire to undermine a potential Dem VP candidate who has had the audacity to criticize the federal response to this pandemic.
Bottom line, I and the majority of Michiganders are actually supportive of what the Governor has done. While Brad Parscale's disinformation machine has been grinding out this story to try to gin up some "she's infringing on muh liburtees" response, the fact of the matter is the Governor has really been just taking the same steps, albeit delayed by a few days, as Governor Dewine from that state to the south that shall not be named. Has she made mistakes and cut with a bigger knife than necessary? Absolutely! But at least she has taken personal responsibility for her decisions and made clear she is open to criticism and that the buck stops with her.
I'm not trying to be a cheerleader for the Gov. but holy shit if the misinformation/disinformation hasn't gotten out of control. Facts matter! Fox sucks! 'Muricah!

I hope you’re right, but I wonder/worry that they aren’t picking up other coronaviruses in the antibody test, skewing results.

If I were you, I wouldn’t care about if I’m right, I’d be more concerned about if they’re right.
I’m not a scientist, but I would imagine they put their test through some trials before beginning testing. Further, this is exactly what similar studies in different regions have shown. The virus is much more widespread than previously thought, and has almost certainly been here since this fall. I’m just surprised this isn’t making more headlines.
But then again, I guess not everyone has seen Bill Maher’s most recent video. Panic porn sells and gets the desired ratings.

I‘d have hoped we would have had a COVID19 test in January from our scientists, but how did that turn out?
I’ll be patient here. It’s an extraordinary claim they are making, when compared to the percentage who test positive but are asymptomatic (40%-ish). That’s a lot of people who theoretically had it and never knew.
Sat out driveway drinking with our neighbors yesterday, maintaining proper separation. One is a doctor (psych) who had a really bad flu a month ago. She can’t get tested yet to find out if she had it. Lack of testing is a real failure.
I'll give governors (and the mayor of DC) some slack. They are trying to develop reasonable guidance with imperfect information while balancing other many priorities.
I talked to my dad today in PA. It is worth remembering how backwards PA is in regards to liquor laws. When I lived there you couldn't buy beer and wine in the same store. My dad was running out of gin, but the PA state stores just allowed liquor delivery! He got some so is set for a while.
My local liquor store 2 blocks away is open so I'm OK.

And other than a neat story, what would she have to gain from a test? There is some debate over whether having antibodies even means you’re immune. We aren’t going to test every citizen.
It is a decently educated assumption that people who have recovered are immune. This has not been proven yet with data though.
