Yep. I seem to recall that as well.Back in the day (80s and 90s), this was definitely a thing. 2 year’s minimum service from you were promoted. 3 years to retire at that rank.

Reference?
IF you accept promotion and then want out, you have to request to resign instead of retire.
Thanks

Related to this thread. Does anyone know how long it takes for your DD214 to be captured in ASOSH? I'm a reservist, looking to retire as soon as possible, but not until my points, that I've accumulated from my active time, are accounted for
Thanks,
Good gouge from the source for those who cannot attend: https://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-...nelmgmt/ReserveRetirements/Pages/default.aspxAttended my first Virtual NR Retirement Transition Outreach yesterday. I found it very beneficial and wanted to pass it on. There is another one scheduled for September 19, 2020: https://teams.microsoft.com/dl/launcher/launcher.html?type=meetup-join&deeplinkId=aa404337-a480-4cc6-ae3f-9a139404aa7b&directDl=true&msLaunch=true&enableMobilePage=true&url=/_#/l/meetup-join/19:8196a539739e43328607a4bd2863095b@thread.skype/1594945966264?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%2221acfbb3-32be-4715-9025-1e2f015cbbe9%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%2293f04660-0c3c-4c4a-b067-f4c2b0dcbe91%22%7d&CT=1599745456767&OR=Outlook-Body&CID=537C18AB-E750-4136-8C71-D774141AFDBF&anon=true&suppressPrompt=true. UPDATE. My ASOSH was updated with my new points from my dd214 last month (oct). Surprisingly, it didnt take long at all.It will take at least 180 days. I had to do the same thing. I just called every few months to make sure they where still tracking it and it eventually got there.
I received what I am calling my "Sanctuary Letter" last year (during my 19th Year) informing me that I had 18 Qualifying Years and that, per the US Code that we have discussed in other threads on this Forum, I was allowed 3 Years to get my 20.
I think you get a US flag, no?do you get mailed anything?
Pretty sure you just wait until the IT system gremlins settle down after retiring, then show up to any DEERS/RAPIDS facility and get one.How do you get a retired ID?
That’s right. I heard you do get a flag.I think you get a US flag, no?
