I'd be great with them streamlining the acquisition process, and re-visiting the way we do business. However, I see the end state of this being more "all manned aircraft are cancelled, all future contracts awarded to Elon Musk Co, pay them what they ask for" level of ingenuity and conflict of interest. Hasn't happened yet, but some of the bread crumbs have been laid

I was. That was bizarre and a big misstep by SD Austin and his staff.
No, but only because I'm only capable of being upset at one human being at a time. I have a mental block where I'm incapable of understanding that two people can both be wrong independently and simultaneously.

Good former first tour JOPA bud of mine worked in the NMCC during that time period as his post DH gig. To be fair, he mostly laughed it off, but he did say it was absolute chaos for like 72 hrs or whatever it was. Those guys are used to knowing when and how much every person in the succession/nuclear decision tree is pooping, much less with pedestrian things like wondering where they are.
See, it’s things like this that make it all the more obvious to me that Austin must have barked at his staff to keep their mouths shut or something and put them in an impossible position. I don’t buy the “failure in judgment” argument where there is protocol to keep tabs on a VIP 100% of the time.
I call it a failure of leadership.

Everything makes a lot more sense when you view Mr Trump as someone who's interested in two very basic motivating factors: fealty and personal enrichment, bonus points if your fealty can also pad his wallet. And before anyone rolls in with their "but what about...?" It's gross when anyone does it.
These are not particularly important jobs, and as such I'll not get my hackles up to same degree as I do/did over SecDef, FBI, and DOJ. It's just that it's unserious trolling - which is no way to run a board of visitors, or a government, but here we are.

The Kennedy Center debacle is an example.
Trump can't read music, describe what a major vs minor key is, couldn't describe a beat in a play, couldn't describe the McCandless system for lighting design.
Yet he knows better than all of the professionals who filled roles in that organization, so he fired a bunch of them and instilled himself as head honcho in charge. The rest of the professionals resigned. Ben Folds, Lin Manuel Miranda, Shonda Rhimes... Real talented artists.

I have been following Ezra’s work quite a bit since the election. He’s got some pretty good takes, and presents things without being preachy or partisan. He often articulates things in a way that helps me flesh out my own talking points around the never-ending dumpster fire in DC. I don’t agree with him 100% on everything, but he leaves plenty room for the listener to have a differing opinion.
