how can I prove I don't have sleep apnea without doing a sleep study? anyone?

Have you received VA disability compensation for sleep apnea? After I was Pro Rec Yes they were VERY interested in any VA disability that I was being compensated for. Thankfully I had not filed any paperwork with the VA for compensation because I thought it might complicate the commissioning process. They asked for proof from the VA and they also asked for it at MEPS.

If you did get VA compensation or self admitted to having sleep apnea, then I think you should post this question on the "DOC's Corner" forum.

Good luck!

Having been through this and as someone who has sleep apnea I can say the only way to disprove is to have a sleep study, did you do a sleep study to get a diagnosis or did a doc say "he thinks" you have it?

I got an email from them saying they received it, and that happened within a few days. I didn't submit via my CCC, or anyone else but myself. Everyone in my chain was informed about it and knew I was submitting, but I didn't want to risk anyone doing it wrong. It seems in the Navy that the more people personally involved increases the risk of something getting lost or submitted wrong. My 2 cents!
Sweet. Thanks for your reply. I feel the same way too about people messing up other's paperwork. The moment I got the call saying my CO signed my package, I ran to my CCC's office and made sure he scanned everything.

Hi everyone. I'm applying for the December boards as well. My ASTB scores are 6/7/7 55. I have a BS in Mathematics and graduated with a 3.42 GPA. I have submitted my packet and I will be taking my physical at MEPS on 13 November. I'm applying for SNA/NFO/SWO. Along with everyone else applying I am excited to see the outcome. I hope I get a Pilot seat. Good luck everyone!

It was for a dental surgery, he just suggested it in order to get the operation approved while on active duty. Now I am in a pickle trying to find a way to prove I never had it and a sleep study is over 2500 bucks!!! I got a N3M letter stating may reconsider if I have a ENT specialist say I need no further procedures or if I get a sleep study done. Man I don't have the cash flow at the moment to pay for this.

No VA compensations, I thought the same thing you did.

Figured I'd throw my info out there, applying for NFO INTEL SWO. ASTB score was 58 6/6/6, 21 male nonprior graduating in December with 3.3 GPA political science degree. 5 LORs from 3 former employers 1 retired lieutenant colonel and 1 retired cw4 both I know personally. Also had an interview with an NFO captain. 2 years of college rugby among other things. I have a question about my packet though, since I'm graduating in December I asked my OR if I needed something confirming I'm graduating he said no but I've read I may need some kind of degree plan sheet, since I haven't actually graduated did i need it?

So was the surgery to correct sleep apnea or something else? I sounds as if you had a sleep study while on AD is that correct?

No, it was to move my jaw forward just cosmetic part of my ortho plan. He just wrote that to have medical approve the procedure.

OK, so he just put you might have sleep apnea? if so it will be easier to fix but not cheap, if you had been given a sleep study and diagnosed that would be difficult, but now it will just be costly.

Is sleep apnea a disqualifying medical condition for OCS applicants?

Just received confirmation that my package was received. Glad it made it there before the rolling boards convened.

Congrats, I think you have a very strong chance especially with your AD time in the AF... Did they give you a hard time procuring your age waivers for SNA/NFO?
