Leadership 101- Give a crap about all of them, you will not like all of them but you can pretend that you do. Have that attitude and they will follow you to hell and back, everytime.

C'mon. This had nothing to do with DADT repeal, other than I'm sure that the civilian media seized on the timing for maximum impact. If anything, the timing issue that screwed him was calling SWOs "fags" when both the CNO and the CJCS are SWOs! The video shows a man who, at least in the sense that he can laugh at himself, is probably the kind of person I would want to work for.
As much as I think it's funny, he's a captain in the Navy, and at the time the XO/PCO of a major warship. He has to know the way the system works, and that this shit always gets out. This might be a great ready room or k-court video made by JOs/company grade, but clearly not something he should be making as part of the front office. It's just bad headwork. Right, wrong, or indifferent. Younger guys can get away, or at least should be able to get away, with stuff that management can't.
A seaman doing stupid things is almost taken for granted. An ensign, somewhat less so, but it's no scandal for the most part. The CO shouldn't get caught doing what either of those cats was doing.

It all boils down to "Good Order and Discipline." His videos, while some considered funny, did, in some sense, create a hostile working environment for others and were contrary to good order and discipline. Do I feel he should be fired over it? No. But I'm not in that decision loop.

Either you learn to go along, get along w/ a PC world in the military, quit bitching & complaining & educate yourselves on how to enjoy eating shit & howling at the moon ... specifically w/in the USN frame of reference ... and it will be to the eternal detriment and destruction of the USN and the combat/warrior ethos ...
Or ... you put YOUR careers at risk, take a stand, and make things right.

90% of LT's were gettin 'out' of squadrons in the late '70s ... is that what you meant ??? It CERTAINLY made a difference w/ policies in the Reagan '80s military ... YOU TAKE A STAND -- IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Many of you guys are 'enjoying' a military that was 'created' by guys in my and Cat's and HAL's and Winks time-frame and many, many others who decided to 'vote' w/ our FEET.

Agree that the only option, really, is to vote with our feet. Not so sure it will make a difference...There's a much larger pool from which to draw replacements. And, quite frankly, Big Navy has made it quite clear that they would LOVE to replace me with someone who either a) doesn't look like me, b) has a different chromosomal makeup (but probably will still look a lot like me, facial hair and all) or, possibly the new one, c) is a dude who likes other dudes.
Resigning? Not exactly the play I had in mind. What if serving my country is more important than making a point? I guess that's one way of doing it, but taking one's ball and going home is kind of a pyrrhic victory if what you want to do is play football, even if the coach sucks.
