You've gotta admit, at least for big Dick, that a DUI back in '62 was more like a speeding ticket than it is today. As for not being able to bash Christians, I disagree. I bash non-thinking people everywhere. In my last squadron, there was a group of 5-6 non-believers that would regularly take on the bible-thumpers. Nobody's feelings got hurt, and nobody got bent out of shape. Just good clean readyroom shenanigans.

So a good retort in defense of someone getting a DUI today is to respond that, yes, other people, some in politics, have gotten DUI's in the distant past?

I guess we could defend Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) and her violent assault against a Capitol Hill Police Officer with a reference to violence in the Roman Senate...

Edit: Not much of an Ann Coulter fan, but the opening line on her column was pretty funny: It's pretty pathetic when a Kennedy is too drunk to drive into the Potomac.
