If, like me, you've been searching all over for dog tag silencers...I found them today. If you go to Wings, right outside the front gate, they've got them there for just a hair under $2.

And while at Wings, at checkout, make sure to look down on the counter and read the laminated newspaper clipping from the idiot 2LT regarding Ramadan. Thankfully I was informed he was attrited.

(I'm not gonna post what it said here, a little motivation for you guys to go and check out a great store with a really cool staff that has been supporting SNAs/SNFOs/and old doods who come back for mic muffs)

Okie dokie...I'll have to check that out. I was thinking about picking up that T-34 patch for my friend who's trying to get back into flight school..."I know enough to be dangerous....0+ Hours"

Zab...is Wings the place that does the ranks right on the flight suits? I heard the exchange leaves these huge green blobs on your shoulders while some store trims the excess off of the rank insignia.

I have laced my dog tags into my boots' laces for my entire career. Putting things round my neck always seemed sort of unsafe in a jet. I have one dog tag on each foot down by the toe. In a bad accident, usually there will be at least some part of you still in the boot...I hope.
Outside of OCS locker inspections (and I assuming they do this)...no one ever checks if you have your dogtags around your neck.
Not once did an IP ever ask for mine in a pre-flight.

Road- Wings is the place with the plane on top (Corsiar? It's been awhile...). I think the website is www.flywings.com

Schnuggapup- I did know a guy who got a pink sheet in VTs for wearing someone else's dog tags. Apparently the stud didn't wear 'em on a regular basis, had an offwing flight and via ready room gouge found out his IP for the day was stickler for such things and always asked for em (odd habit, I know). He 'borrowed' a set from a kid on standby. Of course, the IP asked to see 'em and immediately saw two diff names. Standby kid (true tag owner) got red-a$$ed in front of all of us in the ready room, the student got a pink sheet for integrity, or lack thereof.

Wings is a great place to order online from as well. I needed a new kneeboard and Mike helped me out even giving me an "actors guild" discount. Long story, but I'll sum it up by saying my on-wing and I made a spoof video for my tie-cutting and his going away party.

For dog tags, does the 3710 require them around your neck or just on your person. The reason I ask is because I remember a discrepency between that and our Natops regarding it.

page 8-1 under
"8.2.1 Aircrew Personal Protective Equipment Requirements

e. Identification tags -- two tags on a chain worn around the neck."

/no, I don't have opnav memorized, just a copy of it on my computer.

Well that was fast. Thanks for the help. I guess I'm out of regs then; I need to get on it. I wonder what else I'm out of regs on.

Zab...we must be thinking of different places. The website is from a store on Barrancas and this place is on Navy and looks like a shack.

Road Program- You're referring to Wings N Things (which does the flight suit stuff). For everything else aviation related, try Wings.

yeah, better silence your dog tags so charlie can't hear you in the plane :)

wings is on barrancas and sells kneeboards, etc. wings and things is the maroon hut outside NASP's front gate and they sell patches and sew up the bags. there's also a wings and things further down on 98.

kmac...yeah, that's the one.

Pags...it's not for Charlie's sake, it's for mine. I can't stand the sound of clanking dog-tags. If it didn't feel so annoying, I'd just tape them up, but that stuff rubs me the wrong way.

Is it just me, but I know Wings N Things for their outstanding hot wing cuisine. I don't remember and flight suit stuff...

I'll also put in a plug for Wings n' Things (gee I hope no one reports me for advertising). I've had flight suit ranks and velcro put on everywhere I've been stationed, and they did the best job, no question. The PRs in the squadron are free, but unless you get lucky, the work isn't that great. I took all my flightsuits to the shop in Pcola before I left the country last month, to get the ranks re-inforced and new velcro put on. Well worth the reasonable price and they did 6 bags in 3 days. Nice people too.

For those who may be still confused, Wings (on Barrancas) has a big Corsair model on the roof also. Kinda hard to miss . . .
