Dog tag laced in boot

The dog tag laced in your boot does have merits. During DS, an A-6 NFO was killed after his aircraft was brought down. This guy was the brother of a squadronmate and friend. His family was very distressed when his body could not be located in the post crash debris (Persian Gulf).

His body finally turned up Easter Sunday 1991 - and it was identieable only by the dog tag laced in his boot. Finding the body was very very important to the family.

So like everything else in Naval Aviation, the rule is - follow what your squadron mates do!

And while at Wings, at checkout, make sure to look down on the counter and read the laminated newspaper clipping from the idiot 2LT regarding Ramadan. Thankfully I was informed he was attrited.

(I'm not gonna post what it said here, a little motivation for you guys to go and check out a great store with a really cool staff that has been supporting SNAs/SNFOs/and old doods who come back for mic muffs)

What about those of us who may never again return to P-Cola? Come on, I'm curious.

About Wings & Things, yeah they did an excellent job on my flight suit patches. I wish I'd had them do all my bags, but oh well.

As for dog tags, why should I care whether they identify my remains or not? I think it would be alot more amusing if I simply disappeared; too bad I won't be around to enjoy the trouble I cause the salvage divers.

Well, the other Wings has the dog tag silencers, too, so pick your poison. I bought another set at the other store because they had the tubing for the chain...I'm all about covering up things that can grab body hair. It's not like I have a lot of hair or anything, but ya know...better safe than sorry.

The PRs up at Whiting do a good job of getting stuff sewn (quickly, too), but DON"T go to the PRs at NASP - I took some of my flight suits there. Not only did they sew on the extra velcro that I didn't need or ask for (failure to follow simple instructions...), but they did a s%$@ty job and it took forever to get my stuff back.

Road- Wings is the place with the plane on top (Corsiar? It's been awhile...). I think the website is www.flywings.com

Schnuggapup- I did know a guy who got a pink sheet in VTs for wearing someone else's dog tags. Apparently the stud didn't wear 'em on a regular basis, had an offwing flight and via ready room gouge found out his IP for the day was stickler for such things and always asked for em (odd habit, I know). He 'borrowed' a set from a kid on standby. Of course, the IP asked to see 'em and immediately saw two diff names. Standby kid (true tag owner) got red-a$$ed in front of all of us in the ready room, the student got a pink sheet for integrity, or lack thereof.

Why do we let couchebags like this instruct? Thank god they have started making fleet credibility a prereq to go to P-cola and Corpus. Good on the kid for improvising and having friends. And yes I have flown without dogtags on so I guess Ill never be the avaitor the afore mentioned douchebag is/was (probably selling insurance after being twice passed for promotion.)

Tell ya what, my challenge is for some young go-getter to go-get the story next time he stops into the shop for a usable kneeboard or some other high speed gear, and then bump this thread post it here.

Spoken like a stockholder in wings, you should get a percentage.
but yes very good kneeboards and the combat plotter thing is really good for map prep. I ma intrigued by this story now.

A ready room down or even a pink sheet for not having your dog tags!!! YGTBSM!!!!
Someone is missing the big picture here and needs to be re-aligned to what we really do in Naval aviation. The IP in question clearly must be disgruntled and unhappy about his role in life.

Sadly, stuff like that isnt too uncommon in the VT's from what I've seen. Usually it's the guys who are the typical "I suck at flying, so I'm going to bust you on anything brief or natops related I can, because I have every pub memorized to compensate for my horrible monkey skills" types. I'm sure you know a couple like that. The VTs just give them more power to wield.

one of the things i hate most about flight school is the disparity of grading. what one instructor would give a 5 for another would give you a 3 or 2. that's why NSS is a bunch of bull crap because if one stud gets lucky and doesn't have a crappy instructor like some other stud did his grades are automatically higher. and considering the difference between a 35 and 65 NSS is a fraction of a point it does make a difference. it makes me laugh when i see 6 grade sheets in a row saying you're doing good and that you have great brief knowledge then one instructor says you're a douche bag.

I voted for turd sandwich, but he lost.

Fortunately I seem to get along well with most of my instructors, but then I almost never seem to fly with the douchebags. The IPs in 31 are pretty good for the most part.

Someone find out the damn 2LT story already.
