Coming in a little fast on the pick?

Now wait...he may be picking with a tail/quartering wind (which brings up another question) but that's definitly not a quick stop...

What the hell are they doing straight in picks for anyway????

Look at the hook-up man's posture, the angle of the blades and where the loads are located. First guess would be he finished a button-hook high and short and is waffling down to the load.

Edit: I forgot that button-hooks were killed in the 90's, I meant 'bow to stern approach'.

Technical helo question for you guys...I noticed that two of the blade tips on the -60 in the picture have upswept tips while it looks like two have downswept tips. I assume that these help reduced induced drag on the blades but am curious why the two different directions?

Haven't been fortunate enough to spend much time around helos...thanks all.

They all have the same sweep: two blades are advancing two are retreating.
