Where did you read that? The prelim says no visual signs of corrosion or prior defect was noted. I expect more detailed investigation will find something.This plane was only 11 years old. If I read the report correctly, it sounds like it had been over stressed at one point and the internal structure suffered permanent damage that allowed corrosion to take root and weaken the structure further.
