Female applicants and haircuts

I definitely think I will be going for the close cropped look. If my hair grows out, I'll look like my profile pic and I don't think that would fall within Navy regs lol.

Haha I am considering it! My hair stands straight up if it's less than a inch long, made that mistake once...At the end of the day, it's just hair. I think a fro would look badass with a helmet over it and probably make a great pillow at some point

Holy smokes. Google is very easy. it's catching on, I promise. In case it's a challenge:
"Hair coloring, wigs, or hair pieces must be of a natural hair color, such as blond, brunette, brown, red, gray, or black, not be distracting from a professional appearance in uniform and complement the individual. Hair extensions must match the current color of the hair. Tints and highlights shall result in natural hair colors and be similar to the base color of the hair."

There's judgment involved there. Rule of thumb: You only need one trainer to have a problem with it for it to be a problem for you.

What did you end up doing ? Am trying to decide if it's worth growing my hair out more (to facilitate a bun), or getting it cut short now.

If that were allowed for females, I might just consider that for OCS (and then be a shaggy mess for the next few months while it grew out ?).

Most of the female OCS'ers I saw were sporting a bob as it's easy to care for during the turmoil of OCS. Dealing with having to properly put your hair up in a bun would be a PITA during OCS.
