Final Select Purgatory

They tend to release the FINSEL letters up to 8 weeks prior to the class starting, remember there are already that have been waiting for FY16 classes, so who knows where you are in line to go.

I was put in contact with someone at NRC who said I have a tentative report date of 26Jul and that orders should be released the first week of May.

I was Pro-Rec-Y for 1820 IP from the March IDC Board. BUPERS states "Next, Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) will now send your medical documents through the medical review process here at NRC for commissioning standards. Once Physically Qualified (PQ) letter is issued we will forward your recommendation to the director of OCS Accessions here at NRC for final review and final vote." I also already have my N3M PQ letter and clearance. How long does it take for final review and final vote? I know I still have a ways until I receive a Final Select letter, but am curious as to when the "final vote" hurdle is cleared. Thanks.

I also have a medical question that hopefully someone can answer.

So from my understanding, after FINSEL and swearing in, you take a trip down to NAMI for medical screening, (correct me if I'm wrong)

But during my application process I had a few mix ups with my physical. I took a regular Navy physical, and they also made me take a Pilot physical (which I don't think happened to everyone)

I mentioned this back in the February, and this caused me to miss that board,

But my question is, will I still need another pilot physical? If they sent my pilot physical from a couple months back to NAMI, does that mean I'm 1 step ahead? Or will I just have to fret over the vision test all over again?

In the Marines, you would go to NAMI for a flight physical before OCS. However, for the Navy, your flight physical will be given on the 3 or 4 day of OCS. This will even apply to you even though you already had a flight physical, which by the way was unnecessary for applying for OCS,

Alright cool, thanks for the quick response.
And I know I didn't have to take the physical but for some reason my recruiter was dead set on making me take it.
So what happens if someone doesn't pass part of the flight physical at OCS?
Wouldn't that be a big waste of time? It makes more sense to do the physical prior to OCS.

Oh well I appreciate it

If you fail the flight physical, you can redesignate or drop out and go back to your civilian life. The navy does this so they don't have to pay for you to travel to NAMI and then travel again to OCS when they can get it done at OCS. It definitely sucks for the people going in thinking they are SNA only to be redesignated to NFO or SWO. However, the navy does this because it is actually not very common for someone to fail the flight physical once they pass the standard physical at MEPS. However it does happen........

You don't have a finsel letter yet, but he told you your date?

Correct. He said "my record shows" that I will be joining the July 26th class but the letter hasn't been received yet. Somehow us age critical guys must be all sorts of weird. He said to expect the letter any day. Also @MemphisBell not yet. Like I said there is a chance the background check will continue while we are at OCS. It isn't unheard of.
