did anyone else noticed that the winglets aren't present on this one?

Read the friggin thread.......

similar planes, but the p-8 has raked wingtips instead of winglets...

the original design was for winglets on p-8 (like the swa jet), but then the navy decided raked wingtips would be more desirable. They both accomplish the same purpose....

the raked wingtips actually replaced the winglets because of icing concerns.....

In my endeavor to satisfy curious minds...

with specific attention given to the following

"The Airbus A340, and the Boeing747-400 use winglets. Other designs such as Boeing 777 and the 747-8 omit them in favor of raked wingtips, because the gain available is very small and would make the aircraft too large for a standard airport gate. Large winglets are mainly useful for short distance flights, where the benefit in climb performance is more important. Raked wingtips are now preferred over small winglets for long distance flights where cruise performance is more important.

I wonder if the stupid counter will be taken down at VP-30 this morning...time to go see!

Was wondering the same thing yesterday, went to all dashes and then today it seems to have reset itself up to 138 days or something like that. Maybe that's when the microwave cooks up its first burrito.

just out of curiosity, how long does it take a pilot to "transition?" What about compared to transitioning from a 60B to 60F/S.
